My bandmatesand I were set up under a canopy with misters in the parking lot of the venue we’d be playing at later that night, and we could hear the DJ from the radio station address the crowd lined up just outside.
We sat behind two tables pushed together, with Malachi and Jesse seated on my right, and Elliott and Savannah in the two seats to my left. Rina had also brought in a couple of chairs for Olivia and Cash so they could sit just behind us.
We heard cheers erupt outside, and I picked up one of the Sharpies.
“Let’s do this,” Malachi said as our fans entered the tent.
At the front was a group of women wearing Surrender T-shirts they had cut and modified to show off as much skin as possible. Malachi began signing the items they handed over, but it quickly became clear they were looking for more than an autograph.
“What are you guys doing after this?” one of them asked.
“If you don’t have any plans, maybe we could all get together,” another added.
Malachi smiled. “Sorry, ladies. I’ll be hanging out with my boyfriend.”
“What about you?” The first one turned her attention to Jesse.
I glanced at Olivia, who had stopped chatting with Cash and was watching the women talking to Jesse. Olivia’s gaze met mine, and she rolled her eyes while shaking her head. She’d been around us since the very beginning and had years of experience dealingwith groupies hitting on her man. In all the time they’d been together, I’d never seen Jesse ever tempted to step out on her, so she’d never had anything to worry about.
“Like Malachi, I’ll be with my fiancée this evening,” Jesse replied.
She huffed and looked at me. “You’ll hang out with us, right, Silas?”
My gaze flicked to Cash, but his expression didn’t give anything away. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen women approach me before; it happened at every meet and greet. Hell, it had happened when we were at the ski lodge after we’d first met. But I wondered how he felt now since we were messing around.
“As fun as that sounds, I’ve got some stuff to do before the show.” I flashed them a grin to soften the rejection.
“What about after?”
These women were relentless.
Wanting to make it clear I wasn’t interested and not give them another opening, I said, “Afraid that won’t work, but enjoy the show.”
They moved on to Elliott and I watched to see Savannah’s reaction, but she was dealing with a group of guys who had bypassed us and made a beeline for her end of the table.
I couldn’t help but laugh to myself at how much things had changed. Not long ago, Malachi, Elliott, and I would’ve had a hard time turning down an offer to hang out with a group of fans looking for a good time. But now? Elliott had Savannah, Malachi was in love with Jasper, and I only wanted one person in my bed.
After sound check,we sat near the bus, finishing up the burgers, potato salad, and fresh fruit Jasper and his assistant Garrett had put together for dinner.
Elliott lifted his bottle of beer and used it to gesture toward me. “I’ve got to say, I’m surprised.”
I lifted a brow. “By what?”
He took a sip and then smiled. “You’ve turned down every woman who has flirted with you since we’ve gotten back on the road.”
I shrugged. “Hooking up isn’t really on my radar right now.”
Malachi coughed, and my eyes narrowed on him when I noticed him smirking at me.
“Sorry, wrong pipe,” he said.
Cash hadn’t looked up from his phone, and I wondered if he was purposely avoiding our conversation or so engrossed in whatever he was looking at that he had no idea what we were talking about.
A few seconds later, my phone buzzed, and it became clear he was listening.
You’re such a liar :)
I grunted a laugh and put my phone down.
