Cam wouldn’t be able to see him with how I’d angled my camera. Just me. And maybe a few loose strands of Calina’s hair.

But he didn’t pay her any mind.

Because Lilith had essentially told him thatErositasand humans didn’t matter. They would hold no worth to him whatsoever.

Will he hurt Izzy?Calina asked.

I swallowed, the truth whispering through my mind.I don’t know.

“I’m sure you’ll be able to bring her to heel,” I said out loud, testing the boundaries.

He merely shrugged. “We’ll see, I suppose.” He stretched his arms over his head and rolled his neck. “Well, I’ll let you return to your little rebellion. Send my regards to Darius, too. And I’ll be seeing you both very soon.”

Cam cut the call before I could speak. Not that I knew what to say. Instead, I met Darius’s gaze and said, “Cam’s alive. And he thinks he’s the Liege.”

Darius’s expression rivaled my own shock and dismay.

“Well. That presents a problem,” Kylan said as he stepped onto the jet. He must have been waiting in the doorway, listening. “Isn’t he our savior?”

I just stared at him. Sarcasm would not fix this situation.

He smirked anyway, walking all the way inside with Rae behind him. “Well. It’s not all lost yet,” he continued, his arm encircling Rae’s waist. “We still have Izzy.”

I shook my head. “No. Mira is taking her to him right now.”

“Yes. I heard that part. Which means our weapon is about to enter enemy grounds. That’s brilliant.”

“How?” I demanded. “He clearly doesn’t remember her, or anything. He might kill her.”

Kylan snorted. “You underestimate the value of anErositabond.” He glanced at Calina. “Sorry, sweetheart. Give him time. He’ll understand.”

A growl worked up my throat at him calling hersweetheart. But then his words began to register, as did the understanding in Calina’s mind.

She was thinking about what she would do to fix me if my memories were all destroyed.

I’d make you remember, she said flatly.

I’d fight you,I admitted, putting myself in Cam’s shoes.

And I’d fight back, she returned without missing a beat.I’d win, too.

She sounded so confident that I looked at her.Would you?

Absolutely.I felt her mind kissing mine, reaffirming our link through the unique marriage of our thoughts. You’re mine, remember?

I held her gaze, the realization that she was right settling inside my heart.Yes. Just as you’re mine.

See?She sounded so proud.I’d win.

She was right.

Which meant Kylan was right.

We’d just sent a weapon behind enemy lines.

I could send Cam as much evidence and proof as I wanted, but it might never be enough.

Izzy, however, had a thousand years of shared memories with Cam. If anyone could reawaken his humanity, it was her.
