“Oh, I don’t know, macushla. It could be Kieran’s belittling my life’s worth, or his incessant flirtation, or his constant commentary on the intentions of X-Clan Alphas. You tell me.”
I stared at him for a minute.
My lips started to twitch when I realized the true cause of his anger.
Yeah, part of it probably was related to Kieran’s offer regarding my future path, but that wasn’t the true heart of Jonas’s ire. “You’re jealous.”
“Fuck yes, I’m jealous,” he returned, surprising me with his vehemence. “You’remine. And he keeps flirting withmymate. My wolf wants to shred him.”
My smile grew, which only made his eyes narrow. “You know he’s just a friend, right?”
“A friend who wants tokeepyou,” he returned, causing my eyebrows to lift. “Yeah, I heard that part, too.”
“He meant as a physician and a friend.”
“Sure he did.”
I rolled my eyes. “He’s already mated.”
“He’s betrothed,” Jonas replied. “That’s not the same as being mated. And his betrothed isn’t even here.”
“True,” I agreed. “But he’s only ever been a friend to me. And a very useful collaborator.”
Jonas snorted.
“He saved your life,” I pointed out. “You can’t really hate him.”
“I certainly don’t have tolikehim either, though.”
“Stubborn Alpha,” I mused.
“Stubborn Omega,” he returned without missing a beat.
“Then I guess we were made for each other,” I said as I straddled his hips and pressed my palms to his chest to sit upward on top of him. “Want to knot me so everyone knows I’m yours?” I rubbed against him in invitation, which stirred a deep growl from his chest.
A growl that immediately had my insides reacting.
Slick pooled at my core, coating his already hard cock.
I’d stripped out of the clothes Kieran had lent me prior to lying with Jonas in the bed.
Definitely a brilliant decision on my part, I thought as I rocked against him.
He growled again, his hands going to my hips as he flipped us and entered me without warning.
I jolted against him, my hips flexing on instinct while I moaned. That had hurt in thebestway.
“More,” I begged as he stilled.
“Tell me my knot is the only one you need.”
“Your knot is the only one Iwantand need,” I promised him, my hands grasping his shoulders. “You’re my mate, Jonas. By choice. And I will always need and want you.”
He cupped my cheek, his icy gaze intense. “I love you, Riley.”
“Prove it,” I countered, lifting my hips again. “Knot me.”
He chuckled. “Always so demanding.”
