“Sure, angel.” He kissed her neck. “Lift yourself onto your hands.”

Her body complied even as her mind rebelled. Caro craved her sense of reason, anything to override the emotions boiling her blood—some convoluted mix of fury and arousal—because despite it all, her body loved everything he was doing to her and desired so much more.

This plane has destroyed me.

She shivered as he drew the metal down her rib cage and around to her breasts again. Rather than cut her as he did before, he gently brushed the tip against her hard nipple before trailing it downward.

“Stay very still,” he murmured as the point touched her sensitive folds.

Lightning struck her insides, but his persuasion held her in place.

It felt too sharp, yet so good at the same time.

“Sethios,” she breathed, her mind unable to think of more words to say. If she moved even an inch, he would slice her in her most delicate area, perhaps even himself since he remained inside her. But the dangerous edge rubbed her in just the right way, creating a hypnotic blend of terror and exhilaration.

This sort of act took trust, something she hadn’t been ready to give him, but he’d left her with no choice.

And even while he exercised complete control over her, she felt the safety he offered. He wanted her pleasure because it increased his own. All of this was a way of testing her limits and forcing her to feel, and while she wanted to hate him for it, she couldn’t. Not when he stirred such violent awareness inside her.

His lips caressed her shoulder as he continued his lethal ministrations below. He rocked into her carefully, deeply, stimulating a series of dark desires she never knew existed until him.

“More,” she begged, her voice hoarse.

“Minx,” he returned against her neck. His teeth pierced her skin—right at her pulse—shooting euphoria directly into her bloodstream. She had no idea Seraphim could do this, or perhaps it was only Osiris’s line, but she’d never been more thankful.

Adrenaline mingled with lechery, sending her over the edge into oblivion. His name fell from her tongue on repeat as pangs of rapture fused with her soul.

I’ve forsaken everything.

But it was so worth the fall.

Her limbs held her upright by his sheer will alone because every part of her longed to collapse in a heap of bliss. But he took his pleasure from her, pounding into her welcoming heat, until he erupted on a groan that shook the room. The weapon disappeared as he rolled them to their sides, his mouth still against her neck and his arms circling her abdomen.

She fought to regain control, to think clearly, but nothing about what they’d just done allowed for reason.

Aftershocks hit her lower abdomen, sending shivers down to her toes, while Sethios calmly kissed her neck and whispered something foreign in her ears. She thought it might be Coptic, or another ancient language born before her time, but it was lyrical in sound.

“I don’t understand,” she whispered, her throat sore from screaming.

“I’m keeping you.” He kissed her throat again. “For the time being, anyway.”

She blinked. “What?”

“You heard me.” He rotated her onto her back and gazed down at her with his alluring eyes. “I’m keeping you, Caro.” He kissed her cheek and rolled off the bed while she gaped after him.

“You can’t keep me.” A wave of dizziness hit her as she tried to sit up, forcing her to lie back down in his bed. Okay, that was bizarre.

“I can, actually.” He opened a drawer while he spoke. “And I am, until we’re done.”

“That is not our agreement.”

“Perhaps not,” he said as he pulled on a pair of gym shorts. “We can renegotiate over lunch.”

“I… This is not a negotiation.”

“Not yet, no. But it will be. In the dining room.” He smiled at her and opened his palm to reveal all her knives. How? Where? “Join me when you’re able, angel. And don’t even think of misting or disappearing on me. I have that well under my control.”

He winked and sauntered off through the bedroom door while she struggled to determine how best to respond to any of that.
