Shit.

Az nodded, accepting that plan without realizing what it truly meant. Not that it would really impact him anyway. His Phoenix might like me, but I doubted that was a powerful enough motivator to stand up to Typhos Lucifer on my behalf.

“Has the portal been closed?” Az’s businesslike tone almost made him sound bored.

“Yes. Several of Ty’s lieutenants pooled resources to help him seal the breach. But we still don’t know how or why it happened. The other one led to the Monsters Night celebration. This one just opened to a Human Realm location.”

“In our reality?” Az asked, his question making my brow furrow.

As opposed to what?I wondered. And what’s a Monsters Night celebration? It sounded creepy as fuck and not the kind of party I’d want to attend.

“Yes,” Melek replied. “We were able to pull most of the Nightmare Fae back, but our death count is up to six now. We think it’s because the portal functioned like a black hole, sucking unsuspecting fae into the other realm and its foreign waters.”

“So unlike the one in the Netherworld where the fae voluntarily left,” Az translated.

“Correct.”

“Do you have any leads? Any magic for me to track?”

Melek hesitated. “I think that’s why you should meet with Ty. He’ll provide you with the details you need.” His focus shifted to Ajax. “And he wants to see you, too. I think it’s regarding a different matter.”

Ajax dipped his chin in a show of reverence. “Of course, my prince.”

The formal reply struck me as odd. But neither Az nor Melek reacted to it.

“I suggest you both report directly to Ty.” Melek took in Ajax’s nude state. “Well, maybe put on some clothes first. And heal yourself, too. You’ll need to be at full strength when you face him.”

Ajax simply bowed his head again. Then his wand appeared in a blink, and the scent of pine tickled the air.

My eyebrows rose as Ajax’s magic whirled around him, clothing him in jeans and a shirt in less than a second.

“Heal yourself entirely, Warden,” Melek told him, his tone stern.

“I’ll make sure he does,” Az inserted. “What about Cami?”

“Oh, I’ll handle our little angel,” Melek murmured, his grin revealing a pair of dimples. “I’ve been given permission to show her around the palace and introduce her to the guest quarters.”

I stared at him, my thoughts trapped somewhere between sarcastic glee—because of course Melek would be my tour guide—and horror at the thought of what thoseguest quartersmight look like.

Az glanced over his shoulder at me, his violet gaze unreadable. Ajax, however, kept his focus on Melek.

Does he regret what we’ve done?I wondered. Is he going to revert back to being an aloof asshole, like he tried to last time?

“Ajax will shadow us to the east wing. Then you can take Cami on your tour,” Az said. “We’ll meet you there, Melek.”

The Hell Fae Prince considered me for a long moment, his multicolored irises giving nothing away. “She needs to change first. Your shirt isn’t suitable for her tour.”

“And I imagine you have something else in mind?” Az drawled.

Melek positively beamed. “Yes. Yes, I do.” He leaned into Ajax and whispered in his ear, causing the Midnight Fae to shake his head as he pulled out his wand. Melek continued murmuring, ignoring Ajax’s reaction, and waggled his brows. “Go on, Warden.”

Ajax sighed and waved his hand through the air while muttering a spell.

A black leather skirt appeared on the bed beside me with a red corset top lined with black sequins.

Wait, no.

Not sequins.
