Where we want to be.
Forever and eternity.
I sighed inside, momentarily content despite the dangerous circumstances.
Cami sighed, too, the sound a melody to my bird’s ears. “I think he’s tired,” she told Ajax. “He looks all dreamy and dru—Ow!” She snatched her hand back, her eyes rounding as she took in the fiery crescent bite mark embedded in her wrist.
Oh, fu?—
Ajax tackled my bird to the ground before I could properly process what had just happened, his fist connecting with my beast’s beak.
My Phoenix reacted with an excited caw, his bird brain completely misinterpreting this situation.Mating time,he seemed to think. Which was probably because most of my brawls with Ajax ended with us in bed.
He released a powerful pulse that sent Ajax sprawling across the floor, then lunged at the Midnight Fae in a playful maneuver to pin him to the ground beneath his beak.
Ajax roared.
My Phoenix purred.
And the taste of Ajax’s blood filled my mouth, to join Cami’s essence.
Fuck!I shouted at my Phoenix. What the fuck are you doing?
He’d just bitten both CamiandAjax.
And now he was prancing around in a victory circle, cawing like a damn beast in heat.
Because now he wanted tomate.
However, when he tried to relinquish control to me, to allow me to take my human form and indulge in our new mates, he couldn’t. The spell wouldn’t allow it.
Ajax palmed his neck, his blue-black eyes glowing with fury as my beast started to pace, confusion melting into panic. My Phoenix didn’t understand why I couldn’t take charge and finish this act.
Not that there was much to finish.
One bite was all it took to solidify a Shifter Fae bond.
One biteinanimal form.
Which he’d done.
To Ajax and Cami, I marveled again.Hellfire, this is bad. So fucking bad.
Az?Typhos whispered into mind.What’s happening?
I ground my teeth together.Still need time. Please.I wasn’t sure what to say to him yet, how to explain everything that had happened.
And this… this definitely made things a thousand times worse.
Typhos didn’t press me, his patience and understanding touching my spirit instead. But he had to know something big had just happened. Hell, he could probably feel the change via our Virtuous Fae bond.
We weren’t bonded by my Phoenix, which I supposed meant my beast had never actually been mated to Typhos.
But my bird was absolutely mated to Ajax and Cami now.
How could you do this?I demanded of my beast. How could you do this without my consent?
My bird wasn’t listening, though. Not that he could understand me anyway. He was too distraught by his inability to give control back to me.
