He shrugged one shoulder. If that’s your wish.
“Your fellow rebels have just landed,” someone behind me announced, the English accent familiar.
I glanced backward to find the owner of that voice—Cedric.
He had his arm around Lily, her big blue-green eyes taking in the violent room.
Seeing her had me jumping away from Cam and running straight for her.
Cedric instantly stood, his posture defensive.
Probably because I’d just charged his mate like a bull.
“You saved me!” I exclaimed, feeling like an idiot for not checking on her sooner. I darted around Cedric, something he obviously allowed me to do because he could have absolutely stopped me if he’d wanted to.
Lily looked up at me with a small smile. “I did what I could.”
“You did more than that,” I told her. “You could have kept running.”
She considered that for a moment. “Maybe. But it was nice not to run this time.”
Cedric growled behind me.
Lily simply smiled.
And somehow I ended up pulled into Cam’s side again, like he couldn’t stand being away from me for more than a few seconds.
My brother rolled his eyes at the sight. Then he shared a look with Ryder. “I suppose we should go greet Jace and the others.”
“Why the fuck would I want to do that?” Ryder demanded.
“Becauseyouare the one who ran off with Khalid and Cedric without telling Jace. I don’t want to deal with that bullshit again.”
“Then don’t deal with any of it. Ignore him. It works well for me,” Ryder told him.
My brother sighed and shook his head. “It’s a wonder Ryder Region survives with you in charge.”
“It survives because you run everything for me,” Ryder replied. “You’re the politician, Damien. I’m just the talent.”
Damien rolled his eyes again. “Pretty sure I’m both the politicianandthe talent,” he said as he stalked off toward the hallway.
Only for him to then back up several paces as Luka, Mira, Thida, and a handful of other alpha lycans entered the room.
They took in Michael’s corpse, as well as Jasmine’s remains, then looked at Cam.
“You really did kill your brother,” Thida said to him. “Along with a few of my wolves.”
My eyebrows lifted. You killed Cane? And Thida is Team Lycan, too? Like Jenkins?
Yes,Cam replied, answering both questions with his single-word response.
Aloud, he replied, “There seems to have been a misunderstanding regarding my involvement in my brother’s antics. I won’t claim to be innocent in all this. But I will say that his choices are notmychoices.”
Thida and Luka both studied Cam, their expressions giving nothing away.
However, Mira smiled. “I knew Izzy would bring you back.”
I glared at her. “You’re a bitch.” The words just sort of slipped from my mouth. Yeah, she’d given me a knife. But she’d also lied to me and brought me to hell.
