Was it a cave-in?
I bite my lower lip once more, my heart pounding in my chest.
Panicking isn’t going to help, but neither is sitting here in this lagoon.
Pushing upright, I take a step, wanting to explore, only for flames to overwhelm me once more. A cry escapes me as my knees give out, and the watery haven instantly engulfs me in its cool kiss.
I shiver, more tears trekking down my cheeks.
What’s wrong with me?I feel so weak. So helpless. So… so…hot.
My eyes widen.
Heat.
Gods, I’m so naïve.
I’m going into heat.
My Alpha stopped the suppressants earlier this month with the anticipation of delivering me to Alpha Carlos. He wanted my heat to beexplosive.
And now… now it’s finally happening.
In a cave.
On an island in the middle of nowhere.
Filled with growling and howling Alphas.
I curl my legs into my chest and press my forehead to my knees, my breath fanning across water right below my face.
I’m going to die here,I realize.
Because there’s no escaping my fate.
Once my estrus hits, I’ll be a mindless mess.
And those Alphas… those Alphas are going to knot me to death.
Unless Enrique returns for me.

Chapter 10
Enrique
I’m coveredin blood and the remnants of death.
Yet hard as a damn brick.
Gods, I’m over a mile away from Caja, and I can still fucking smell her. It’s like she’s branded my wolf despite being unclaimed.
All I want is to run back to her and fuck her for hours. But I need to finish gathering supplies.
I spent the majority of the early hours fending off Alpha challengers. Several of them are currently trapped in a hole I created with explosives. Lopping off heads was going to take too long, so I crafted a temporary holding solution instead.
A bullet to the brain kept an Alpha down for a few hours, thus allowing me to drag bodies back to the crater and drop them inside of it. They’ll eventually find their way out, but by then, I’ll be sequestered in the cave with Caja.
