Because no potential mate would ever say that about his Omega.
Omegas were rare. Powerful. Destined to be worshipped. Not belittled with sharp words. Rejected on repeat. Ridiculed for havingconfidence.
Cillian isn’t our mate.
We deserve better.
We desiremore.
An Alpha who loves us. Cherishes us.Fightsfor us.
It was time for us to move on. To stop wallowing in Cillian’s potential.
He really doesn’t want us, I thought again, my wolf stumbling a bit.Well, then we don’t want him.
My wolf yipped as though agreeing with me.
And took off across the icy field.
We’re done salivating over Cillian.
He thought I’d been playing achildish game?
Well, thatgamehad just come to an end.
And Cillian? He’d just lost.
Because the right Alpha would see me as a prize.
The right Alpha will actually want me.
You can have tonight to mourn,I told myself. But tomorrow, you’re going to move on and forget all about thewrongAlpha.
It shouldn’t be hard.
It wasn’t like Cillian ever sought me out.
He probably wouldn’t even notice, would just be glad to be rid of myannoyingly persistentpresence.
My heart panged in my chest, my wolf stumbling once more.
Tonight, we grieve, I reiterated to myself.Tomorrow, we step into the future. And begin the hunt for a worthier mate…
CHAPTER TWO
CILLIAN
Several Minutes Earlier
And I’ve losthim again,I thought, my gaze on Lorcan.
He’d ventured somewhere into his mating bond, making his mind murky and incomprehensible. His connection to Kyra had bolstered his mental defenses in a way I could never have anticipated.
Same with Kieran’s connection to Quinnlynn.
It fascinated me, as their minds were ones I knew almost as well as my own, yet I could barely hear Lorcan now. Not that he was the chatty or loud sort to begin with, but I could usually hear him contemplating and analyzing.
However, all I could hear right now was a strange sort of static as he checked in on his mate.
