‘George sits alone by a window in a room, overlooking a wild garden. I see monks all around and they are afraid for their lives.’

‘Is George’s life in danger?’ asked Cara.

‘Not at this moment, but it will be when he comes for him.’

‘Who is he?’ Cara prompted.

‘Not all the rebels are good men. There is one man who wishes him harm. His excuse is to use George as leverage with the king, but he has his own sinister motives. He is a man of secrets.’

‘It’s as I feared. They’ve taken you,’ said Cara, staring into George’s brown eyes.

He reached for her hand again. They could see that Sylvia was now in a deeper state.

‘Where is this room? Is it in Yorkshire?’ Cara asked.

‘George is imprisoned in some kind of monastery. His friend tried to stop them taking him but the man with the deep blue eyes insisted he would be safer there.’

Cara shuddered at the mention of blue eyes, and the image of the man who had been staring at her in The National Archives popped into her mind. ‘I didn’t tell Sylvia about the man,’ she whispered to George.

‘What more can you tell us of this man with the blue eyes?’ Cara asked.

‘He travels through time and he wishes George dead, so that he may have you again,’ replied Sylvia.

‘Have me? But who on earth is he?’

Sylvia shook her head from side to side and her eyes flickered open. ‘I’m sorry. My connection broke without warning. Did I transmit anything of use?’

‘You just blew my mind,’ said Cara. She held out her hands. ‘I’m shaking.’

‘Oh goodness. All I remember is a man with the bluest eyes I have ever seen,’ said Sylvia.

‘It’s him. It must be him from the archives,’ said Cara, looking from Sylvia to George.

‘I wondered when this would happen,’ Sylvia said.

‘When what would happen? Every time I think this can’t get any stranger, it does just that,’ Cara replied.

Sylvia rose and walked across the room to pour them all water from a carafe on a small side table. She handed them both a glass.

‘As you know, Twin Flames are challenged to make peace with their past, in their quest to reach what the mystics callascension. In your case, you are multi-generational Twin Flames which naturally comes with a lot of baggage—much of which you won’t consciously remember. In the spiritual world it’s calledkarma,’ said Sylvia between sips.

‘I always thought that was just another artificial construct to frighten people into good behaviour—much like organised religion,’ said George.

‘I think your karma is haunting you,’ said Sylvia. ‘If you pass the test, you’ll be one rung closer to ascension.’

‘And if we fail? Also, what’s the man with blue eyes got to do with it? He seemed familiar to me somehow, but I can’t put my finger on where I’ve seen him,’ Cara blurted out.

‘I’m not entirely sure, but watch your backs—if my vision was right, he thinks you belong to him and he’s coming for you... My inner-guidance tells me the outcome of your karmic battle will determine whether George lives past 1537, or whether history is permanently rewritten,’ said Sylvia.

She left the room for a few minutes, and then returned. ‘I’m sorry I wasn’t able to bring you happier news. Readings can be difficult sometimes.’

As they left the building and stepped into the sunlit street, George remarked, ‘Well, I am pleased we had that uplifting experience. I feel much better now.’

Cara laughed, despite her sombre mood. ‘What the hell do we do next?’ she said.

‘Nothing. I think we’ve done quite enough for one day. Let’s go home,’ he said, slotting her arm through his.
