‘Yes, and when you think she wouldn’t be my sister at all, but for Eddie’s failed time travel experiment,’ said George.
‘I know. And I might never have realised you were free if she hadn’t called me and left that message.’
‘Let’s not think about that, my darling. It all worked out for the best and we have our whole life ahead of us. I can’t wait to move into Willow Manor and have the family over,’ he said, his excitement building as the prospect of their new reality kicked in.
Cara leaned over to kiss him as they walked towards the tube station. ‘It’s been so hectic lately we’ve barely had a quiet moment to be together,’ she said.
‘Ah, I know that tone. Are you lusting after my gorgeous body, again?’
‘Always.’
‘I love that,’ he said.
‘What?’
‘How open you are about expressing your sexual appetite.’
‘It’s only with you,’ she said.
‘I should bloody well hope so!’
‘Seriously, I’ve never fancied anyone in the way I do you,’ she said.
‘I suppose there must be some truth to this Twin Flame prophecy,’ he said.
‘All I know is; when we’re together, life is wonderful, whatever we’re doing. Let’s keep it like this, forever George,’ she said, fear clouding her eyes.
‘Of course. And you know what, we already have the perfect life. I’m going to stop dwelling on Victoriana and focus on enjoying our life here.’
‘I think that is one of the biggest lessons we’re supposed to learn. When we live in the moment and are grateful for what we have, things have a way of working out.’
They reached Aldgate Tube Station and headed through the busy entrance into the bowels of the Underground.
‘How’s Jane?’ said Cara.
‘She’s doing well and said she’ll come and visit soon.’
Cara didn’t know how she would have lived with herself if George had lost his daughter. Fortunately, she had appeared in his new life as if nothing had changed.
Sylvia explained that some places and some people were just meant to be in your life. No timeline reset could change that.
‘Did you make the offer?’ asked George.
Cara nodded. ‘I texted from the solicitor’s office.’
When do you think we’ll hear if it’s been accepted?’
‘Not sure. I’ll ping the agent and nudge him if we don’t hear from him soon. There’s no reason to delay now.’
‘Do you want to stay over in London or shall we head home?’
Cara looked into his eyes and knew he wanted to return to York. ‘Let’s get the next train home.’
‘Oh lovely. I’m shattered and can’t wait to get back. Just as well we’re both not great fans of bright lights and big city life,’ he said.
They enjoyed the occasional trip to London but one day was enough, and they’d been back and forth more than usual lately.
‘Twin Flames, my darling. Twin Flames,’ she said, raising her face to his as they kissed before alighting from the tube at King’s Cross.
