“Do we need to get you home, baby boy?” I could hear the disappointment in Papa’s voice, though he hid it well.

Oh.

I was supposed to give them an answer about spending the weekend with them. I wanted to, very much, but I was nervous. Spending that amount of time with me, they would see the full unfiltered version of myself and not just my little side. I scolded myself. I wanted this. Why was I scared?

I needed my stuffies and my sketch book. Would Daddy or Papa take me back to my flat in the morning to pick up my stuff if I agreed to stay?

“I want to stay for the weekend.” I looked up at Daddy and Papa and saw them both smile like they had won the lottery. “I will need some things from my place, my stuffies and stuff.”

“We can certainly do that, though by the way the snow is coming down I think we might take Daddy’s Range Rover.”

“Is it snowing?” I sat up, excited, my tiredness forgotten. I loved the snow so much. My parents had disapproved of making snowmen—or any type of fun, really—but I’d found out I had a snow fun loving twin in Lilly, and I’d built my first ever proper snowman with her.

“Oh, look at the way those big brown eyes lit up,” Papa laughed, then smirked at Daddy. “You still have those old snow boots?”

“I have a jacket and mittens in the closet too. Why?” Daddy asked, smiling slightly.

“Sprite, want to go play in the snow before bedtime?” Papa gave a devilish grin and Daddy groaned behind me as I let out a joyful whoop.

“God save me from winter loving heathens.”

“You don’t like winter, Daddy?” I scrambled to my feet, excited to go out and play in the snow.

“I like it just fine when I have a glass of cognac and a fire close at hand, and a window separating me and the snow,” Daddy chuckled.

“That’s okay, more snow for us. And after that we can have a warm shower.” Papa gave a mischievous grin.

I blushed and giggled at the same time. Showering with Papa, being naked and slippery? My brain kind of shorted out at the idea, I wanted it almost as much as I wanted to play in the snow.

“Okay you two, before we do anything Seb needs some warmer things to wear, and it’s getting late so only half an hour, do you hear me?” Daddy was trying to give Papa a stern look, but Papa’s goofy grin warned he wasn’t taking it seriously.

“Ok sprite, let’s go.” Without further ado Papa lifted me up, and I clung on like a baby monkey with a silly grin on my face.

“Snow time!” I yelled.

“If you both catch a cold out there,” Daddy warned, following us at a more sedate pace.

“You’ll dote on us and feed us soup and make us feel better,” Papa answered, grinning at me when Daddy groaned.

“Damn it. I hate that you know me so well.”

Papa carried me into a small room off the main entry hall. It looked like a huge walk-in coat room, and that turned out to be exactly what it was.

“We store all our winter coats and shoes down here, better than tramping through the house leaving puddles of water about,” Daddy said, pulling out a thick red quilted jacket and holding it out for me.

“This will be miles too big for you, but at least I won’t have to worry about you freezing to death.” Daddy helped me put it on, and a pair of snow boots over my thick socks. Then he handed me a pair of warm gloves and a bright green beanie with reindeer horns on it, which had me giggling as he tried to put it on me.

“Daddy, where did you find this?” I rubbed the velvety horns and the soft fur that covered the brim.

Daddy smiled fondly, taking the beanie from me, looking at it. “Would you believe I was in a store last week and saw this? I don’t know why, but I just had to buy it. Maybe something was telling me we were going to meet someone who this would be perfect for.”

“You mean me.” I reached up and touched the beanie.

“I think so, yes. Now let’s get your boots done up so you and Papa can go outside and have some snowy fun.”

Papa was dressed in a heavy dark coat and boots and no hat, but he did have his own pair of warm gloves in hand.

“Are you going to come outside?”
