“I have to take my car in case I get a call out,” I answered.
Perry nodded. “That works well for me. Roman picked me up and brought me here tonight. I was going to end up sleeping in one of their guest rooms, which is fine, but honestly, I do sleep better in my own bed. I have an early client tomorrow, and I would have had to get one of them up early to bring me back to Tewsbury, so if you’re okay with being trapped in a car with me…” I couldn’t stop the laugh that burbled out of me.
“You just spanked the come out of me and then spent the last half hour massaging my bum better. Um, yeah, I think I will be okay sharing a car with you.” I let Perry help me stand, then step into my sweatpants, and I didn’t even roll my eyes when he helped me into my sweatshirt, though I did have to let go of Leo for a moment. Perry very seriously took hold of Leo while I pulled my arms through the armholes of my sweatshirt. I didn’t want to think about how much that meant to me.
The midnight scenery streamed past us as we made our way back to Tewsbury, not that I noticed. I found myself openly looking at Perry's face. His eyes had fine creases at the corners when he was focused, like right then, as he kept a careful eye on the road.
I nearly creamed my pants when he slipped on a pair of thick, black-framed glasses when he got behind the wheel of my Mini. I have such a soft spot for men in glasses.
God damn it this is Perry.
Okay, so he gave me a mind-blowing orgasm just by spanking my arse. Okay, so he’s not the huge wanker I thought he was, but I still found it hard to believe he was interested in me beyond some kinky fun.
“All right, what is the frown for?” Perry didn’t turn his face towards me, so how did he know I was frowning?
“You can’t see what I’m doing, you're focusing on the road like you should be.” With a sudden childish urge, I stuck my tongue out. Perry's deep laugh filled the interior of the car.
“I like this side of you, Cullen. You have a playfulness that I don’t think many get to see, or if they do, they don’t appreciate it,” he said.
“You know you don’t have to flatter me. What you see as playfulness, other Doms have called rowdiness or being a brat. They don’t seem to think that I can be both a sub who wants to serve his Master’s needs and also have a need to act out occasionally, even if it means I get my arse spanked.” I blew my breath out against the passenger window, causing it to fog up.
“You know Doms are human too, and some of them are denser than a bag of rocks,” Perry answered, turning onto the main street of Tewsbury.
“And yet I keep having it pointed out to me that I’m not a good sub and that I need to change my attitude if I expect to find a partner. That is the story of my life.”
Perry pulled my car into the small drive alongside the cottage that doubled as my surgery and home. I startled a little when his hand reached out to squeeze my thigh. “You’ve been dealt a shit hand with people, but I can promise you, I don’t think you’re a shit submissive. I’ve already told you that you were brilliant for me tonight and, apart from you not telling me when your knees were hurting, I feel like we had a good time.”
I nodded, looking at Perry’s hand. “We did?” It came out sounding more like a question than I had intended. “I mean, I did enjoy myself. Thank you for tonight and for letting me help you with the demonstration.”
“Honestly, you were a dream, even when you rolled your eyes when you thought I was droning on a bit. I would love to see a bit more of that cheeky side.” Perry smiled as he said it.
My ears grew hot at the mention of my eye roll. I hadn't thought Perry had noticed, but he had been droning on about crop care and people were growing restless. I loved to serve and be a polite sub for my Master, but sometimes, they needed a little reminding they weren’t omnipresent or infallible.
Also, sometimes it was just fun to annoy them.
“You say that now,” I teased gently. I was seeing now that Perry was a good man. But even if I forgot our rocky start, I didn’t think he would be able to deal with the real me, with all my quirks and moods. He’d barely scratched the surface of those.
Perry let go of my hand to unbuckle his belt, then mine. He placed his hand back on mine before I went to exit the car.“Cullen, I would never lie to you.” I must have shown disbelief or something in my expression because he sighed, almost resigned. “Who hurt you so much?”
“Do you have an hour free? I have a list.” I joked, trying to defuse the situation. Perry just shook his head and leaned forward to kiss my cheek gently.
“Meet me for coffee this week. Honestly, Cullen, I really would love to do a proper scene with you.”
My cheek tingled where Perry had kissed me, and I brushed my fingertips against the skin. “Okay.”
“Good boy. I’ll call you tomorrow to check on how you're feeling and set a date for our coffee. Wait here for a minute.” I blinked, confused, as Perry got out of the car. My mind raced, going over how easily I had agreed to meet him for coffee. What the hell was going on?
My door opened, and Perry reached in to take my hand and help me out of the car. I wanted to be a better man and say the move didn’t have me going slightly weak at the knees, but to hell with it. I was a weak, weak, man, and Perry…well, he was just annoyingly perfect.
We stood chest to chest, and Perry tilted his head as if seeking permission, then his lips brushed mine in the softest of kisses. I could still taste his lips when he pulled away, smiling. “Until tomorrow my adorable, Princess.”
I giggled at the nickname. Seriously, what the hell was going on with me? “Thank you, Sir.”
“Now off you go. You're too tempting right now, and we both need to be clearheaded before we talk again. Make sure you have a drink of water and fold your clothes before you head to bed.”
“Yes, Sir.” Perry leaned down and kissed me once more, a chaste goodbye kiss, and was walking down the street before I had a chance to say anything.
It wasn’t until I had finished my glass of water and was folding my clothes that I stopped, dumbstruck. He'd so easily given me instructions, and I’d followed them without another thought.
