“I think you’re seeing more than a blush, Mr. Broderick.”

He shrugged without apology. “I do love what I’m seeing.”

Serena peered down at his thickening length. “So you do.”

“It’ll have to wait. I believe there was one more thing you wanted to do,” he stated and produced his laptop. He settled next to her with his computer on his lap and his tea in his free hand. “You mentioned living near my family?”

Chapter 37

“Are you sure?” Ethan asked Serena.

She bit her lip and turned in a circle, taking in the large kitchen with an island he imagined she would fill with her teas, herbs, and potion ingredients. “It’s absolutely perfect, Ethan!”

They started searching for homes only that morning, and within twenty minutes, they had found this one, a street over from Max’s new place. It had only gone up for sale the day before, and it so happened there was an open house the next day.

“We have time to keep loo—”

Serena kissed him hard. “Unless you don’t want it, I’m telling you it’s perfect!”

“Yeah?” he asked, cocking his head to the side. Ethan loved the home, but whatever they picked needed to be what they both wanted.

“What do you think?” the realtor asked, stepping into the kitchen.

They shared another look and grinned.

“We want to put in an offer,” Serena stated calmer than the volt of energy he felt running through her.

Ethan buckled his seatbelt and stared at the house after dotting some Is and crossing some Ts. “Good thing we did the preapproval application once we decided buying was a real possibility.”

Serena laid her hands on the dash and set her chin on them as she looked up. “I really hope they accept the offer.”

He put a hand on her back and rubbed a couple comforting circles. “We’ve done our part. I have to say, I don’t believe in coincidences and this place is perfect.”

“Agreed,” she said and leaned over the center console to kiss him. “Now, what about August twenty-second?”

Ethan’s brows drew together in confusion. “August twenty-second?”

Serena shook her head and laughed. “It’s a full moon.”

“Okay… What about it?”

“What about getting married then?” she asked, her voice wobbling some with nerves.

Ethan grinned. “You want to marry on a full moon?”

Serena nodded as he turned on the car. “Yeah, it’s a magical time, and it would give us a few months to prepare. It also wouldn’t interfere with Brandy giving birth.”

“August is fine with me. I will say, I’d be fine with a quick winter ceremony too if you’d rather keep it simple.”

She laughed as he backed the car into the street. “Babe, you’re one of seven. There is nothing small or simple about that.”

They discussed wedding options as he drove to Max’s and parked his car along the street. During the short drive, he became exhausted. “How do people do big weddings if a small one has me wanting to whisk you away to Vegas?”

“Even Vegas weddings take a little planning. Not everything you see in movies is true, you know,” Serena told him over the hood of his car.

Ethan chewed over what she said all the way to the door. “Wait,” he said as she pressed the doorbell. “Have you been married before?”

“Seriously? You’re asking her this now?” Max asked and Serena squeaked.
