“Accepted,” he said and looked at the time on his watch. “Better fix your makeup so Brandy doesn’t come hunt you down.”

Her next laugh was lighter as she went to where Debbie had set her things. “Oh, my! I’m a mess!”

“A beautiful mess,” he teased.

He watched her work quickly, and when she was done, her face was in place, save for some blotches on her pale skin. She was still the most beautiful woman he had laid his eyes on.

“You sure about August?” he asked, leaning a shoulder against the wall next to her.

She met his eyes in the mirror and raised a brow. “Second-guessing marrying a crazy witch?”

Ethan moved and wrapped his arms around her waist as he set his chin in the crook of her neck. “You were a crazy witch before today, and no, I just can’t wait for you to be officially mine.”

“You think your family is going to still want me to join after today?” she whispered.

Ethan guffawed. “You’re in like sin, baby,” he said in a silly voice.

“Okay,” she muttered.

Turning her, he tipped her face toward his. “Look at me. You’re obviously still shaken up, but once you deal with those emotions, you need to remember you’re a badass high priestess, and eventheymake mistakes. Everyone’s fine, and all’s been forgiven. Okay?”

She sucked in a deep breath as she rose to her toes and pressed her lips to his. “Thank you, I needed the reminder.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

“I love you so much!”

“Not as much as I love you,” he said.

“All right, let’s get this show on the road!” she said and walked past him. With her shoulders pulled back and her spine straightened, she stepped out into the hall.

Ethan beamed with pride for the woman he would marry.

“She better?” Peter asked, interrupting his thoughts.

Ethan nodded. “I think so. You knew…”

“After she hit me with her magic, I gathered as much.”

“It’s what you two were talking about earlier.”

Peter nodded. “She’s a proud, stubborn witch. I wouldn’t expect anything less from her.”

Chapter 40

Serena grinned at the emotion on Ryan’s face as Junior walked Brandy down the aisle. The love the two shared was radiant as each beamed for the other. She wondered if others thought of Ethan and her in the same way.

Feeling his gaze, she met Ethan’s eyes and blew him a kiss.

“I love you,”he told her.

“I love you too, now let me concentrate.”She scoffed.

“It’ll be perfect,”he said, reassuring her.

Serena looked down at the small book in her hands. On one page, it held everything she needed to perform a nonmagical ceremony, and the other pages included what she needed to give their union a magical blessing.

“Who here gives Brandy Broderick away?” Serena asked when Brandy and Junior reached them in front of the altar.
