“We found where Olsabir camps out,” he stated.

Carter shook his head and chuckled. “You know, I find myself less creeped out when you do this.”

“Do what—oh, yeah, sorry about that.”

He closed his eyes and shook his head. “No, you’re not. I’m just glad it’s you who got that power and not Junior. He’s pretty unbearable now. I couldn’t imagine him if he could legit check up on us whenever.”

Ethan’s chuckle sounded through the phone. “No shit!” The phone became muffled as he suspected his brother spoke to someone else. “Sorry about that… Brandy says Peter and Joel are also in.”

Carter spoke to Ethan long enough to get the address of where Olsabir was and where they would meet. When he turned to face the women, he frowned at their hushed whispers. “Ladies?”

Vanessa’s gaze barely met his before dropping to her lap. “I don’t want you going…”

“Excuse me?” he asked, looking from her to Georgia and back.

She sucked in her lower lip and stared at her friend. Georgia shook her head in reply, “Nuh-uh, Nessie, keep me out of this. I’m going to the ladies’ room while you two figure this out.”

Carter took the spot Georgia had vacated and pulled one of Vanessa’s hands into both of his. “Talk to me.”

Her sigh tore at his heart. “Baby, I just can’t handle it if something happens to you.”

Carter smiled and lifted her hand to his lips. “I feel the same way, and as much as I want to lock you up in my room and go handle this, I know I can’t. You don’t have a chance in hell facing Olsabir without me at your side—not because I don’t think you can’t handle him but because I refuse to let you go without me at your side where I belong.”

Her lips pulled into a thin line before pursing. “I suppose I wouldn’t let you go without me either.”

Carter chuckled. “I don’t suppose you would.”

“All right, now that that’s all settled, can we go figure out where this asswipe is?” Georgia asked, leaning against the wall leading to the bathroom.

Carter ignored her a moment longer and claimed Vanessa’s lips. “No need,” he said, staring into Vanessa’s eyes. “The others called to tell me they found Olsabir and where we need to meet them.”

“Damn, you Brodericks really don’t play around.”

“Not when it comes to our mates we don’t,” Carter answered and pulled Vanessa to her feet.

They piled into Carter’s Audi and headed for the rendezvous point. His brows raised when he spotted the rather large gathering in the ominous parking lot. Max, Ethan, Brandy, and their mates stood in a circle alongside Peter and Joel.

“Well shit, I’m not sure why I bothered coming along,” Georgia said, peering through the windshield from between the front two seats.

“You love me. That’s why,” Vanessa said, reaching back and wrapping her arm around the werewolf’s neck.

“About time!” Brandy called as they reached the group.

“What’s the plan?” Georgia called to Peter.

Peter pointed with his thumb behind him. “There’s a few mindless humans hanging out, and Ethan is going to help them forget Olsabir.”

Carter’s brows raised to his hairline. “You can erase people’s memories now?”

“Serena knows a spell that will help me scrub all things supernatural from their minds,” Ethan said with a shrug.

“It will be the most effective coming from him,” Serena said.

Peter pointed at Carter. “You, your brothers, Joel, and I will clear out the tubars, lycans, and werewolves so the ladies can back up Vanessa.”

Carter nodded, partially hating the idea of not being at her side but understanding his part in the plan. “I don’t like it, but I get it.”

Georgia placed a hand on Carter’s shoulder. “I’ll keep her safe.”
