“Why is the shop closed? Is everything okay?” he asked, taking three long strides to reach her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. His scent and the feel of his familiar body made her melt against him.
“I’m fine. How’d you get inside?”
“I might have panicked and used magic to unlock the back door.”
She tipped her head back to meet his eyes. “Seriously? Wait—what are you doing back? I didn’t think your flight came in for a couple more hours.”
Edward laughed. “You and I really need to do a better job communicating about my flights. I texted you earlier to say I was able to get on an earlier one.”
Behind her, she heard Claudia shake, and Edward stiffened in her arms.
“Mia?” he whispered.
Claudia barked and looked at her clothes on the couch. Understanding the wolf for the first time, Mia spun Edward so his back was to Claudia. “Give her some privacy,” she said, and the air around them shimmered.
“Her? You don’t mean that’s Claudia?” he asked.
“Welcome home, Edward. Give me a second to dress,” Claudia said.
“Hi. Why were you in wolf form?”
“We’ve been busting our asses all day, and I guess the knife she was using slipped, so she cut herself pretty good.”
“Please don’t mention this to Max. He worries enough about me, and making the change healed me up good. There won’t be a mark by the time I get home anyway.”
“None of my business,” Edward said as she told them, “All done!”
“I’ll open up while you two get your proper hello,” Claudia said before kissing Edward’s cheek and offering them a wink.
The moment the door closed behind her, he swept her into his arms and spun them around. “God, I missed you so damn much, baby!”
Mia laughed, joy filling every cell at his presence. “Oh, I got the message… all of them.”
“Too much?” he asked against her neck. His hands roamed her skin under her shirt and found her bra in record time.
“Huh?” she asked, her mind faltering at the feel of his hands and mouth.
Her shirt and bra hit the floor, and he devoured her mouth in a scorching kiss. Mia tugged at his shirt, pulling it from his slacks, and unbuckled his belt and pants. Her need for him consumed her. She did not pay much attention to the fact she needed to go downstairs and help Claudia run her business.
He pushed her against the sliver of the wall leading to her bedroom and pushed her skirt down her hips. Without breaking their kiss, he tugged at the fabric covering her before lifting her to the wall. She wrapped her legs around his waist, raising her hips until his erection pressed against her opening.
Edward took her against the wall in hard, claiming thrusts, filling her with not only his beautiful cock but all the undeclared love blessing their union. Their labored breaths could not keep up with their intense lovemaking. Mind-numbing passion wrapped them in a cocoon as he marked every bit of her as his.
“Missed you… never going… all mine…”
She smiled at his disjointed words. Her body wound up for what she expected to be the most powerful climax to date. All she saw or felt was him. Edward Broderick. The most kind, loving, sweet, maddening ogre of them all, and he was all hers.
“Fucking love you,”she blurted without a thought as the world around her burst into tiny fragments of unfiltered passion.
“I love you too. God, I’ve loved you forever,”he said before thrusting into her another two times and releasing his seed deep inside her.
Her heart thundered in her chest—because of the amazing sex or the long overdue love declaration or both. She really didn’t care. She was too happy to analyze any of it. Edward was home and in her arms, where he belonged.
“I love you so damn much,” he said, pressing his forehead to hers.
Mia’s lids fluttered until she could see him. “I love you too.”
