“I’ve spent a lot of time out in forests. You come across some crazy things every once in a while.”

He let himself out and was pleased when she did the same. Mia raised her gaze to the canopy of trees sheltering them from the rising sun. His heart tumbled at the sight before him. Her shoulders raised as her nostrils flared with a deep breath. He gave her a moment to bask in her surroundings before leading her to the front door by her hand.

“What are you doing?”

He ignored her and pulled out the keys burning a hole in his pocket. Edward unlocked the wooden door, pleased he could not see through the privacy glass. Pushing open the door, he waved her inside. Mia stepped across the threshold and gasped as she turned in a circle. Edward took in each element of their new home, trying to see it through her eyes.

The main part of the home had high ceilings and wooden paneling. The open concept allowed them an easy view of a modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances. At the rear side, light streamed in through large windows, giving them the feel of being outside. Edward knew if they stepped down the hall to their right, it would lead to three bedrooms, including their master suite.

Mia softly padded along the wooden floors and let her hand caress the leather of the sectional he had purchased. “This place is…”

It took every ounce of power to not pull her into his arms. Seeing her reaction was everything he had hoped for. She belonged there with him—no,theybelonged with him, he countered as he remembered the child she carried.

“What do you think?” he asked, his voice thick with emotion.

“Who lives here? I mean, this place is fucking amazing. It’s like someone plucked it out of my dreams,” she said, peering out at the large patio. A built-in fire pit sat in the center, and he could not wait to make s’mores one day with their little one.

His chest swelled with pride. He had bought the right house, but now he hoped she would not be upset that he had left her out of the process. “It’s ours.”

Mia spun on her heels, dropping her hand from the wood framing the window. “What?”

He grinned and pulled her to him. “It’s ours, Mia. I bought this home forus.”

She shook her head, her eyes wide with surprise or maybe fear. “Edward, just because we’re having a baby doesn’t mean you have to buy us a house.”

Edward kissed her forehead and chuckled. “Baby, buying a house doesn’t happen overnight,” he said and linked their fingers. “Let’s go see the rest of the place.”

She followed along at his side and shook her head. “I really am confused…”

“I asked my realtor to look for a home in the woods almost a month ago. It’s the only place I could see us living together. This way, you can go out there and do your thing, and we won’t be too far to commute,” he said, stepping into their large bedroom.

“Holy crap, that’s a huge bed!” she blurted.

The California-king-size bed he’d ordered fit perfectly in the room, and a long wooden dresser sat opposite. “Do you like it?”

Mia let go of his hand and jumped onto the center of the mattress. The teal downy comforter cradled her body. “I feel so small!”

Edward laughed and crawled between her thighs. “Because you are small.” Holding himself up on an elbow, he ran his fingertips along the silky skin of her cheek.

“You bought this place before you knew about the baby?” she whispered, her eyes studying him closely.

He pressed a kiss to her lips before smiling. “I did. Had no clue about the baby, I swear.”

“This is a huge purchase to make without consulting me…”

Edward nodded. “It is, but I trustedmymagic.”

“Oh?”

“Some time back, I was shown an image of you in a cabin in the woods. It felt like the most natural thing, and I knew it was where we needed to be. I asked my realtor to start searching, and when she found this place, it was a no-brainer. If you hate it or don’t like it, we’ll sell it and keep searching until—”

Mia’s fingers pressed against his lips. “I love it. I’m just wrapping my head around it all.”

At her words, he kissed her—a deep and thorough kiss to express his love and how happy her words made him. Her fingers dug into his hair, her tongue meeting each of his strokes as his dick swelled in his pants.

He’d been thinking about christening their new home for a few days. Tugging her top over her head, he made quick work of freeing her breasts. Edward couldn’t ever remember being as happy as he was in that moment. With his hand full of Mia’s soft flesh, they kissed on the new bed of their new home with their child nestled within her womb.

Lost in his thoughts, Mia surprised him when she flipped them over. She stood on the mattress and shimmied out of her jeans and panties. Edward pulled her to her knees and pressed his lips to her flat stomach.
