“Oh! That’s actually why I came over here—” Mia said, dropping her legs over the edge. “Is he the only non you-know-what?”

Brandy giggled. “You two are starting to sound like the kids from the wizarding movie series.”

Serena smiled and shook her head at Brandy. “Technically there are two more inside, but they’re family, why?”

Mia’s brows knit as she thought of who else was inside as Brandy said, “Junior’s and James’s wives.”

“There are so many of you, I’m not sure I’ll ever get it straight.” Mia shrugged. “Then again, I’ll probably never see most of them again.”

“Not unless you marry in,” Serena said and waggled her brows.

Mia laughed at the incredulous suggestion even as an image of Edward forced its way into her mind. Her laugh died a moment later when she noted both women studying her closely. “You’re kidding, right?”

Brandy turned toward Serena. “I did say she’d fit right in with us.”

“You did, and she did help save Vanessa after all.”

“What are the odds they’re—”

“Oh, if they are, they don’t stand a chance.”

“They would make lovely babies.”

Mia’s eyes bugged. She wasn’t sure how they were still attached. “What on earth are you two talking about?”

“Edward,” they both stated.

Chapter 3

“I know you’re not leaving, big brother,” Ethan stated as he stepped up to him.

For a moment, Edward debated denying it. “I have some—”

Ethan shook his head. “No.”

“No?”

“No. No, you don’t have things that are so pressing you need to leave right now. No, you don’t get to weasel your way out of spending time with us. No, I won’t look the other way any longer. Whatever is going on in that head of yours is wrong. Rye? Can you go get Edward another Johnny Walker?” Ethan called to Ryan, who merely looked from Ethan to Edward and walked away.

“E, seriously—”

Ethan turned and pulled him into a brotherly hug. “This last year has been crazy, and I’m sorry we let you pull away so much, but it stops today.”

Edward’s chest swelled with emotion. It was no wonder his baby brother was gifted with sight. He’d always noticed things days before the others. When the embrace ended, Edward sucked in a deep breath and nodded. “Fine.”

“Here ya go,” Ryan said, offering him the glass. “I got you a double.”

“Thanks, man,” Edward muttered before sipping the drink. He slid his free hand into his pocket and grabbed his keys. “Here, looks like I won’t be needing these.”

“That’s the spirit!” Ethan cheered as he accepted them.

“What’s going on here?” Junior asked, raising a beer to his lips.

Ethan grinned. “Edward here is staying.”

“No bullshit excuses today?” James asked, joining their expanding circle.

Junior slapped Edward on the back. “Don’t look at him like that. We’ve all known. Just figured you needed time to process shit.”
