“You’re a doctor?” I asked, pretending like I didn’t know the answer.

“Don’t play stupid.” His lips dropped into a scowl. “You know that I own Stone Laboratories.”

“I—”

“But if you need anything,” he cut me off, “Give me a call. I’m always willing to help the servers here. But otherwise,” he gestured at the lounge again, dismissing me, “I have an appointment to make.”

“Nice to meet you too,” I muttered as I turned away.

“Likewise,” he said.

I walked slowly towards the lounge. I wasn’t used to this. Not that I was drop-dead gorgeous or anything, but red lipstick worked in my favor, and usually one of my flirting strategies worked well enough that I was able to getsometraction with the targets.

With Cormac? He hadn’t budged. It was possible that I had even made it worse.

Because he didn’t trust me. And I couldn’t kill him until I knew that the world, without a doubt, would be a better place without him.

This was going to be harder than I thought.
