“No one,” I said, pushing deeper into her and silently begging for whoever was at the door to go away.

The knock came again.

“Shit,” I cursed under my breath.

Another knock.

“I’m busy!” I shouted over my shoulder, already imagining a dozen different ways to punish whatever clubhouse member was interrupting my overnight entertainment.

“It’s Banner,” came the familiar older voice. He was nervous or anxious, or both. “It can’t wait.”

That was all the buzzkill I needed. Maybe I was looking at blue balls for the next twenty-four hours, but hearing the strain and immediacy in the Rugged Angels’ former president’s voice was all it took for the mood to evade me.

Abruptly pulling out of Blondie, I slid off the bed and picked up my boxers from the floor. “Be right there,” I said brusquely, moving a bit slowly to give the girls an extra moment to cover up.

“But we’re having so much fun,” Brunette stuttered, pleasure still on her face.

I didn’t answer. It didn’t matter what I was doing or what time of the night it was. If Jake Banner was knocking on my door with obvious fear then that meant that some crazy shit was about to go down.

Or already had.
