Ten
Jason’s mind spun. One minute he’d been at his hotel, damn near ready to climb the walls as visions of him going down on his mate flooded his mind.
Mating dreams. He’d heard about them from some of his friends, but never believed in them. Apparently, females had sexy-ass dreams when they were marked but not claimed by their mates, and that was exactly what had happened between him and Mikah. He’d bitten and marked her, but not claimed her. Now that the mating dreams had started, they would keep coming until they completed the mating ceremony.
Hot beyond belief and barely able to control himself, he was two seconds away from shifting to his wolf to hunt her down when he’d ended up on top of her, kissing her.
If that wasn’t some good old fashioned majik, he had no idea what the fuck was. He had to give her credit though, she looked just as stunned by the event as he did.
“Cat got your tongue?” he joked.
She scrambled to a sitting position and grabbed for the blankets to cover herself. The most beautiful blush he had ever seen crept across her face and down her neck. What he wouldn’t give for a peek of those perfect breasts again.
“You don’t have to cover yourself, you know. It’s not like I haven’t seen every inch of you naked a couple of times today.”
“The fuck I don’t.” Mikah wrapped a sheet around her and sprung from the bed.
Whatever spell she had been under when he wound up on top of her had clearly vanished. It was a pity too because he could still taste her in his mouth, and he wanted more—so much more. Jealousy tore through his body thinking about how the dream version of himself had tasted every inch of his mate.
“It was just supposed to be a dream. Nothing more. I—”
“A mating dream,” he said, cutting her off.
“That’s what that was?” She paced back and forth across the carpet. Something she must have done a lot judging by the uneven pattern pressed into the carpet.
“Yes.”
“Oh my God! That means you saw—”

He stood and quickly closed the gap between them. “It means I saw how badly you want me. How badly your body needs me. I’m your mate, Mikah. Let me take care of you.”
She paused her pacing to glare at him. “No, I don’t need you. And my body is just fine, thank you.”
“Lie,”her wolf laughed.
“You stay the hell out of this. It does not concern you.”
Jason inched closer, backing her against the wall.
“Do you think I can’t smell your need or how turned on you are?”
Her breaths hitched in her throat. Of course, he could smell her desire just as she could smell his. He wanted her, she wanted him. It should have been an easy call, but she knew nothing about him other than his name, and that just wasn’t who she was. She needed to know more about a person before she hopped into bed with them—mate or not.
“I don’t give a flying fuck what you think you smell.”
“Lie.”her wolf continued to call her out for each and every damn lie.
“You are the worst liar on the face of the planet. You know that, right? Do you want to tell me why you don’t want me…as you claim?”
“I’m just not into you.” She’d hoped to be more convincing but ended up blurting out the first thing that had popped into her head.
“Lie.”
It was a total lie, but what was she supposed to say, ‘because I’m not ready to jump into a relationship let alone complete the mating ceremony with a total stranger?’ Absolutely not. Admit to her vulnerabilities? Gods, no!
It didn’t matter that her body hummed for him. Mikah needed him—wanted him, craved him. The lust she’d felt for him minutes ago still flowed through her body, her legs threatened to give out from the force of the orgasm dream Jason had given her, but she couldn’t give in and accept the pleasure he had to offer. Gods, she wanted to. But she couldn’t. Not even as a one-time thing.
