“How did we manage that? Humans never swing by our Podunk town.” Mikah arched an eyebrow, curiosity getting the better of her.

“Gerri is hosting a brunch lunch with several of her friends and asked if we would like the business. So, I figured, why not?”

“Gerri as in Gerri Wilder?” Mikah asked.

“Of course. Who else would I be talking about?”

Mikah’s breath caught in her throat.

“Are you okay, Mikah? You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Did I say something to upset you?” Cam asked.

“Uh—I. I’m okay.”

“Lie.”

“Would you shut the hell up? I really don’t need your commentary every time I open my mouth to speak,” Mikah chided her wolf.

“You do get along with Gerri, right?”

“Of course. Don’t be silly.” She got along just fine with Gerri. Always had. She just didn’t want Gerri sticking her nose in her business like she had with all of her friends.

“You know, you can tell me anything,” Cam said, offering her support.

“I know, and thank you. It’s not that I don’t like Gerri. I just don’t want her in my business trying to set me up.”

“I don’t think she’d do that. Do you?” Cam eyed her skeptically.

“Look, I really don’t know. All I do know is thateverytime Gerri Wilder shows up here, someone’s life gets flipped upside-down.”

“What makes you say that?”

Cam gasped.

Mikah closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath. “Gerri, we weren’t expecting you so soon.”

“I am so fucked!”

“Truth!”her wolf replied.

“You didn’t see that one coming, did you, Mikah?”
