“She’s not lying. In fact, she’s been plotting this for some time.” Lars added.

“I suspected as much. But you two can keep sweetening the deal, I’m enjoying it,” Ginger replied, swiping a French fry from Sofia’s plate.

Sofia leaned over to whisper in her mate’s ear. “Speak of sweetening the deal, look who’s here.”

“I knew he couldn’t resist showing up,” Lars replied.

“Um, you know it’s considered rude to whisper secrets in front of company.”

Ignoring her complaint, Sofia took Ginger by the hand. “Come on, let’s take over one of these pool tables and show these wolves we still have it.”

“Do you want to run the table just like we used to? It sounds like a great idea to me. Like it’s time to let loose and have some fun.”

“While you pool sharks are taking advantage of your fellow wolves, I’ll go get us some drinks from the bar.”

Judging the selection of cues on the rack, Ginger swung one free from the rack and smacked a handsome young man right in the face.

“I’m so sorry about that!” she said, shocked at how hard she’d clobbered him.

“You’ll be fine, but you better get some ice on that eye, stat!” Sofia said, ushering him away with a pat on the back.

“Damn, girl. You’ve gotta’ find a better technique when it comes to meeting guys. I don’t think battery is a good way to start off. Especially when pool cues are involved. They aren’t all Neanderthals here,” Sofia quipped with a laugh.

“Well, damn! I didn’t even get his name,” Ginger joked.

“That was James. He’s a really good guy. I doubt he’ll hold a grudge over that little incident. So, no worries. I’m sure he knew it was an accident.”

“Okay, we can scratch James from whatever list you and Lars seem to have cooked up for me. Bring on the next target,” she replied, readying her cue like it was a baseball bat.

Breaking out of the small crowd which had gathered near the bar, Chance suddenly spotted Sofia racking up balls on the pool table. He paused and watched from his vantage point in hopes of getting a glimpse of the mysterious Ginger.

His eyes locked onto a curvy brunette, her long hair flowing over her shoulders and down her back. She leaned forward on the table facing away from him. Sliding the cue over her outstretched hand, she appeared to be laughing with Sofia. Chance sipped his beer, unable to take his eyes from the way her perfect ass practically teased him.

He watched her effortless stroke as she made the initial break of the game. But when she tossed her hair aside and repositioned herself around the table, he saw her face and that’s when he really became intrigued. Her eyes sparkled when she laughed.

“Damn, she is…beautiful,”he said to his wolf.

Not at all paying attention to their game, he continued to drink his beer and enjoyed watching the ladies interact before he thought about introducing himself to her.

A sudden heavy slap to the back of his shoulder nearly knocked Chance off his feet.

“Are you being shy or just letting her enjoy herself a little longer before you ruin her night?” Lars laughed.

“Who knew it was comedy night at the Wolf Den?”

“Come on, let me introduce you,” Lars said, leading the way.

As soon as Sofia caught a glimpse of them, she whispered to Ginger. “Check out what Lars found for you.”

“Still trying to sweeten the deal, I see. But I’m a little disappointed. There’s no Christmas bow on him! I specifically requested a man wearing nothing but a bow,” Ginger joked.

“Okay, fine! You got me on the damn bow, but I figured you could add your own and seal the deal,” Sofia replied.

Lars and Chance finally snaked through the crowd and made it to the pool tables. “Ginger, let me introduce you to my friend, Chance,” he said, handing her a beer. “Next one is on him.”

Sofia instantly picked up on the way Ginger was secretly eyeing up Chance and her approving smile. She suddenly hatched a little plan. “Lars, would you mind if we went back to the bar for a few minutes? I’m thinking that I’m more in the mood for a mixed drink.”
