She leaned back into me, and I cursed the efficiency of the elevator when it made it up to the floor, then chimed as the doors slid open… right into the suite.
Rue walked out, her eyes huge, her mouth parted.
“I’ll let you know if we need anything,” I said, taking the keycard and the small leather portfolio Daniel handed to me.
With that, I slipped him a twenty and he was gone without a sound.
“Oh. My. God,” Rue gasped when she knew we were alone.
“And we’re just getting started,” I said, waving the portfolio at her.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Rue
He not only set up a stay in apresidential suiteat a five-star hotel, but he also lined up every self-care item from my bucket list. To be done by the best of the best practitioners in the area… all of whom worked out of the hotel itself.
After getting a tour of the massive hotel room, I was given an itinerary that featured a bunch of firsts for me: a massage, a facial, hot stones, and a whole-body mud wrap.
I didn’t even want to think about how much just one of those treatments might cost, let alone all of them.
Anytime I tried to bring up money, though, Kylo waved off my concerns.
“Where are you going to be?” I asked as he accompanied me to the spa.
“I’ll be hanging out in the room waiting for you to come back, so we can work on the next phase of the plans.”
“This isn’t it?”
“Not all of it, no.”
“But—”
“Clearly, she needs work on the whole relaxation thing,” he said, speaking to the woman in the black scrubs who greeted us.
“Gee, thanks,” she said, narrowing her eyes at me.
“We will take good care of her,” the woman said, waving toward the hallway full of doors.
I thought he was just going to turn and walk off, but he grabbed me, pulled me in for a quick, but dizzying, kiss, then watched me be led away.
“He was very specific about how pampered you need to be,” the woman said as she led me into a small private lounge. “Up to and including the entire spa menu, if that’s what you want.”
I had reservations about whether I was going to enjoy spa treatments. It was a big part of the reason it was on my bucket list, not something I’d ever done before. I figured it might be awkward or that it would feel weird to have a stranger touching me.
All those concerns drifted away pretty quickly as the rain music played and soothing herbal scents filled the room; I had somehow forgotten that I was naked under my towel and that someone I didn’t know was in the room, running their hands all over me.
Honestly, I actually fell asleep several times during each treatment. It was like my body had been so stressed for so long that once I was able to let go, I relaxed right into unconsciousness.
It seemed like that was a normal occurrence in the spa, though, because I woke up alone in a dim room after my last treatment.
I was tempted to check out more of the menu but the rumbling in my stomach had me slipping back into my clothes, feeling a little sticky from all the oils that had been massaged into my skin, face, and hair.
“Kylo?” I called when I made it back into the suite, looking around for any sign of him.
“I was about ready to send out a search party,” he said as he came in from the balcony. “Are you ready for the next items on your list?”
“More?” I asked.
