“We are inside of you.”
“Okay. That is sort of gross and disturbing on a whole other level,” Brody teased, and Reiya giggled. Even his lame, cheesy jokes were music to her ears.
Reiya pulled back and wiped her eyes. “I’m going to bring you back now.”
Brody smiled at her. “How are you going to do that?”
Reiya smiled brightly. “By making you my guardian again.” When Brody died, his connection as her guardian had faded. Now, she had to awaken that part of him again. The magic inside him that her mother had placed. She had to call out to it. And she knew exactly how to do it. She would sing the song of remembrance. She grabbed onto Brody’s hands and searched for the song in her heart, the one that her soul knew. The song that would connect her to her mother to activate her fairy magic.
The sunlight twirls and dances bright
Hidden in leaves before they take flight
In every corner of the earth's embrace
You're swaying, hearing my melody's grace
The flowers bloom, each petal for you
The song pulls us near, a bond so true
Our hearts almost beating as one
Singing together, though miles are spun
Voices are calling from lands afar
Laughter and singing, like a guiding star
Echoing whispers on the breeze
A symphony of harmony in the trees
A voice from afar beckons my way
Guiding me onward, day by day
It smiles, it sings, a gentle call
Your voice in the wind, a sweet enthrall
In joy and sorrow, we reach across
Bridging the distance, no love is lost
Hand in hand beneath the sun
Together, our journey has just begun
Can you hear the song I weave?
Drawing us closer, helping believe
Now the moment has come at last
Awakening the magic binding our past
A bright light shot up, and Brody’s bright orange glow surged. The light pushed Reiya out of the darkness and flung her out of Brody’s subconscious. She opened her eyes, the tears still pooling from her face. She felt Lee’s arm tighten on her, but all eyes were glued to Brody.
