“Evan?” He tips my chin up, and I swallow. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” What is he doing? I search his eyes. This isn’t the plan. I look at him like he’s lost a screw.

His fingers glide along my jaw, sending a shiver through me. He smiles before he turns his head to Olivia.

“Are you still here?” He arches an eyebrow and gives her a look that would make some girls cry. “Next time you try to buy Evan, you might want to find out who owns her first.”

Olivia huffs. “I suppose you do?”

“She’s mine. And she’s not for sale. You fuck with her, and I’ll do something I never do.” Damon’s fingers glide down the side of my neck.

Something inside me is bursting. This is going to change everything.

“Why would you want her when you can have me?” Olivia narrows her gaze at me like I’m something she needs to destroy.

Damon moves between us and tucks me behind him, protecting me. It makes my heart ache because it won’t last.

“Fuck around and find out.”

She pouts. “What would you do?”

“I’ll destroy you. I’ll take away everything from you if I even think you have Evan in your sights.” He steps toward her. “Anddon’t think of having another guy go after her. I’m not playing. I don’t want you. I belong to Evan.”

My heart is in my ears. What is he doing? Maybe this is because of the texts? Did he find out Olivia sent them?

The door opens and closes. Olivia left. Fuck. I should have stopped her.

Chapter 19

Damon

Fuck. It was a bad idea but when I noticed Evan went into the bathroom and hadn’t returned, panic shot through me. Her phone location hadn’t moved on my tracking app. The guys and I talked about claiming Evan to make Jackson back off, but it would have been a controlled burn and not a scorched earth approach like I just did.

Honestly, for what we want, it doesn’t make sense to claim her until we know why Chase wants her so badly. I wasn’t supposed to do what I just did.

When I turn, Evan’s face is pale and she’s trembling.

This girl has me in a vise grip.

Her wide eyes lift to mine, a kaleidoscope of silver and blue. “What?” she asks dazedly.

I take her arms and pull her into my chest. “You were in here too long. I got worried.”

“You’re tracking me?” That’s the first thing she wants to know? I almost laugh.

I shrug. “Are you surprised?”

After all, I’ve been filming her for weeks. She rests her ear against my heart.

“What did you just do, Damon?” she asks softly. Her hands grip my sides like she never wants to let go.

I drag in her scent and release my breath. “Blew up the world for you?”

She chuckles. “I don’t think this is the end of the world.”

“Maybe not for you.” I cup her head against my chest. “I’ve never had a girlfriend before.”

She pulls away and looks up at me with confusion. “Girlfriend?”
