“Nah, I’m a mate for life kinda guy.” He kissed me, chaste but enough for me to taste myself on his lips. A hot rush went down my whole body, and I knew the next time the heat took me, it wouldn’t let me go until it broke.
“So you’re just… going to keep me forever?” I asked sceptically.
“Yeah. Got a problem with that?”
A smile broke across my face. “No.”
He kissed me again. “Good. And so we’re clear, you’reours, not just mine. You’re our girl, our omega, and it’s every bit as permanent as a mate bond.”
So much emotion rushed to my eyes, making them sting, and my throat, making it close up. All I could do was nod.
“And if you eventhinkabout letting another man eat that pussy like I just did, I will kill him. And it won’t be quick. It will be slow, and he’ll wish he’d never been born. The same goes for another woman. Alpha, beta, omega—I don’t give a shit what designation they are, they don’t touchmyomega. Understand?”
My lashes fluttered, and the swoon was so severe this time that I swayed into him. “Yes, alpha,” I murmured, my lips finding the strong pulse in his throat and laying a kiss there.
“Good girl.” He knocked my legs from under me and swept me up against his chest, startling a purr from me. “Now let’s go find Prodigy and torture him with the taste of that sweet pussy on my tongue.”

Miraya
Ishould have listened to Prodigy when he tried to convince me to let him and Tybalt stay with me tonight. The cramping in my stomach hadn’t been so bad then, and Tybalt had helped soothe the vicious need that bloomed in the garden.I’ll be fine until tomorrow,I told them. I told myself that too, until I woke up at one in the morning and had to curl into a ball to endure the pain. It had progressed so badly, so quickly, that I couldn’t take it.
My heat was here, and my soul and body were both in agreement: our mate should be here, too.
I dragged in a hissed breath to snap at my traitor soul that he didn’t want us, but a whine of pain used up all my air, the stab in my abdomen harsh enough that it brought tears to my eyes. The fairy lights strung around my nest blurred, and the piled blankets and pillows swam in my vision. I clung to my leather jacket and red dragon plushie, tucking my head into mychest and pulling the scents that lingered on my stolen shirt into my lungs. They were faint, but they were there, woven into the fibres.
Another spike hit, and I gasped, my body boiling hot, the pain that burrowed through my lower belly worse than it had ever been before. I needed my mate. I needed arms around me and scents all over me and hands on my body. I needed a purr and soft words and a knot locked inside me, turning the pain to so much pleasure it would never hurt again.
My arms flexed around my comfort items, tears dripping down the leather. I needed to move my arms, to roll over, to get my phone. But another spike of pain ripped through my body, and rejection burned through my chest, into my heart, into the shattered decay of my soul.
“Alpha,” I whimpered, as if anyone would magically hear me through the phone.
I thought the universe hated me, thought the gods had forsaken me, but then the door to my nest burst open. The golden blush of the twinkling lights outlined Prodigy’s strong shoulders, his messy curls, his stubbled face as he closed the door and rushed toward me. Concern knotted his brow, softening his hazel eyes.
“How?” I rasped. How did he get here so fast? How did he know I needed him?
“I was just outside, sweetheart,” he murmured, scanning my body, eyes lingering on the scratch marks I’d left on my arms. “Tyb and I planned to take turns all night. Can I come inside your nest, Miraya?”
I nodded rapidly, another whine filling the room, a vicious twist of pain cutting across my lower stomach. I curled up tight, hands clutching my middle, the cramp so bad I didn’t notice Prodigy unfasten his shoes and remove his shirt until he was beside me, pulling me against him. My cheek rested on his barechest, and I gasped at the instant rush of relief. The pain cut in half, and I could finally take a breath. His hands roamed up and down my back, offering comfort so powerful that I relaxed into him, and the next twist of pain came as a shock. I curled my hands into fists, breathing through the pain with fast, sharp gasps, letting out a noise of complaint when Prodigy jostled me.
“Sorry, ray of light.” His kiss found my temple, and for a brief moment, there was no pain at all. “I need to call Tyb. What’s your password?”
My body locked under the next wave of agony, the sharp sensation starting in my lower belly before carving through the rest of me. “Fourth. Speed-dial,” I panted, my teeth gritted, the pain so bad I couldn’t keep my cries contained.
Prodigy wedged the phone between his shoulder and ear and grazed his hands up the outside of my thighs, hooking his fingers into the waistband of my underwear. I hadn’t bothered with pyjamas, too hot to stand more fabric on my body. The shirt had only been tolerable because it smelled like them. My alphas.
So we’re clear, you’reours. You’re our girl, our omega, and it’s every bit as permanent as a mate bond.
Prodigy guided me onto my back, speaking in low tones that swam into nonsensical words as I writhed, so hot that sweat dripped from me. I wanted Tybalt here. I couldn’t endure this torment without them both. Even if I could, I didn’twantto.
I only realised I was whimpering his name when Prodigy laid a kiss to my chest, stilling the pain long enough for me to hear him say, “He’s coming, ray of light. Can I touch you here?”
His fingertips trailed a tingling line along my inner thigh, and I burned with unforgiving heat, arching up into the touch, trying to move it closer to the deep, vicious ache pulsing through me. I was so slick I’d soaked the sheets, so slick I didn’t just feel it when Prodigy finally caressed my pussy; I heard it.
“Need,” I groaned, a violent surge of pain making my back arch. I needed my mate, needed him here. He was supposed to be here.
“I know, fuck,” Prodigy murmured, so sympathetic that my chest ached. He parted my legs and settled between them, the press of his shoulders to my inner thighs so good it made the pain stutter for a moment. “I’m right here, Miraya.” Something crashed, but I didn’t care enough to look, not with Prodigy’s breath hitting the fiery heat of my core. “Tybalt’s here. We’re here, sweetheart, we’re here.”
