“It’s either that or you’re high, because your eyes are bloodshot.”
“They’re dry.”
“You’re a bad liar, Avery. Whatever it is, pull yourself together. You look like hell right now.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you should go into motivational speaking?”
I looked up just as Tristan walked into the lounge, looking like it was the last place he wanted to be.
“Okay,” Kamila clapped their hands. “We have a bit of a development. As of today, a new contestant will be joining you ladies in your quest to win Tristan’s heart.”
My mouth fell open. Of all the announcements I could have possibly thought of, a new contestant coming in this late in the game wouldn’t have even cracked my top twenty. This must have been what Tristan wanted to tell me last night. Whoever this was, surely, would win, and he was simply looking to give me the heads-up.
“This new contestant personally called producers, expressing her desire to be on the show. After meeting with Tristan just moments ago, we’ve agreed to let her join the rest of you ladies.”
An outcry ofWhat’s andThat’s not fairerupted through the room. Stunned, I stood motionless, searching Tristan’s face for a sign—any sign—of what may be going on inside his head. Instead of meeting my eyes and giving me a small smile of reassurance like he normally did, he looked ahead, stone-faced.
“I trust you will all welcome this contestant into the competition with open arms. Most, if not all, of you probably already know of her. So, would you please join me in welcoming none other than Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Davis to the show?”
Gasps from all of us replaced protests as Tristan’s drop-dead gorgeous ex-girlfriend slinked into the lounge in a form-fitting red sundress that was cut low, exposing enough cleavage to be an FCC violation. Her face wore a smile that would make MissAmerica jealous, reminding me of how a queen addressed her subjects. It was clear she knew we were no match for her.
Next to me, Bianca stiffened, a smile plastered on her face for the cameras. But beneath it all, she knew just how screwed we all were, and with a skill that would impress any seasoned ventriloquist, without breaking that smile, Bianca muttered what we were all thinking, “Mother. Fucker.”
PETE THE REALITY GURU
THE ONE WHERE THE A-LIST STAR EX CRASHES THE PARTY
What started out as being the most tedious and predictable season ofHeart to Hearthas completely turned a corner, and readers, WE. ARE. HERE. FOR. IT.
In case you missed the last episode…If you don’t want spoilers, you need to click away now…
Jessica Davis has joined the cast!
I repeat. The Jessica Davis, future EGOT winner and ex-girlfriend of Tristan Tate, has joined the cast.
What the what?
This is the biggest twist inHeart to Hearthistory, and the shock was written all over the women’s faces. The meme circulating of Charlie’s face alone has been chef’s kiss.
And Tristan? Our main man looked just about as happy to see his ex as anyone else would be to see their ex, proving that celebrities honestly are just like the rest of us. Fans noted Tristan’s somber expression throughout the episode, wondering if it had anything to do with Jessica.
Jessica, for her part, seems to have acclimated to being the alpha woman in the house, dominating the screen during Tristan’s date in Avalon with Tatiana, Felicity, Taylor, and the queen herself, Bianca. It takes a queen to knock another queen off her pedestal, and in Jessica, Bianca has met her match.
And folks, girlfriend was miffed.
Though she would never show it. It’s that kind of bad bitch energy that has made Bianca our personal favorite throughout the season. But you could tell she was less than enthused to be sharing the spotlight with a star whose light shines brighter than hers.
Anyway, during last night’s elimination, Tatiana, Brittney L., and Kennedy were each sent packing, leaving only six women remaining, including Avery. Could she be the source of Tristan’s sudden mood swings? Our source noted a bit of a chill in the air around those two, and with Jessica in the house, we don’t see a thaw coming anytime soon.
CHAPTER 43
TRISTAN
“We’re a hit again!”Wanda exclaimed into my ear when I relented and accepted her phone call, the seventh time she’d called me in five minutes.
“Yeah? That’s great,” I answered, immune to her excitement.
Across from me in the limo, John raised an eyebrow.
