“Ow! That smarts.”
Wiggling my bottom beneath his hand, I can hear his breathing grow heavy and labored.
“The next one will be harder. Who did you pledge infinity to?”
The game is way too much fun to become serious, but the thought of that tattoo drags me back to reality. Hard.
“It sounds stupid, but I pledged to myself.”
Rolling me over onto my back, he balances on his elbows as he looks into my eyes. “What do you mean?”
Shrugging, I run my fingertips across the sexy stubble on his chin. “I found that most people let me down. So, I decided I would always take care of myself. I knew that no matter what, I could always be the person I depended on.” Glancing into his eyes tentatively, I ask, “Is that stupid?”
Shaking his head, he strokes my cheek with his fingertips. “No. Not stupid. A little sad, but very, very powerful.”
“Thanks.”
Leaning over me, he kisses me again, and this time, he reaches down and lines himself up. Bumping against me, he takes his member, gliding up and down the length of me until he’s beyond rock-hard, and his tip is glistening. Nudging me, he pushes harder and enters me.
“God, Avery.” Clenching my teeth, I exhale, trying to relax to take him in as much as I can.
Leaning down more, he wedges his arms beneath me, holding me. “I’ve got you, baby.”
Plunging deeper, he goes as far as I can take him, and with my head rolling back against the pillow, I cry out.
“Damn, Sen, you are so sexy.” His rhythm increases as he drives harder into me. Pressing down with his pelvis, he bumps against me in just the right way.
Deep inside, he hits that spot, and a flood of hot, sharp waves releases from my lower back, down through my legs and toes. Grasping at his back, our rhythm increases again, and as he thrusts harder, I match his tempo. My arms are tingling, and wrapping my legs around him, I pull his hips tighter to me.
“Fuck, Sen, baby…” Reaching with one of his hands, he takes my hands from his back and pins them to the bed next to me.
“Oh God…” Pressing against him, I’m completely unable to move. Not that I want to. All those years of Krav Maga, would I stand a chance against a man this strong?
Right now, I don’t give a fuck. I just want to be all female to his all male.
Locking his mouth on mine, he grips my wrists harder and pressing down against them, keeps me controlled beneath him. I moan into his mouth and he pulls back, looking into my eyes. Perspiration forms between us, and his face is covered in a slick film.
“Baby, I am so close.”
“Oh God, yes. Avery, I need to…”
Latching his mouth back onto mine, he holds me tight as a wash of ecstasy covers me from my tingling scalp to my toes, running down my spine, and morphing into a giant shudder and release from deep inside.
With another thrust, he falls into a heap on top of me.
I float around, basking in the feel of disconnect until my thoughts come crashing in. The thing is, as ugly as the thoughts are—Matt trapped in that hellhole, Sing Sing, Mikey and Tony free and probably on the hunt—lying there, underneath Avery, I feel safe and protected. Like nothing bad can ever touch me while I’m with him.
But the thing is, because of me, he’s in danger just by being here. And although it may kill me to do it, tomorrow I have to tell him I’m a lone wolf. This was a one-time thing.
The infinity symbol proves that. As much as that symbol shows that I can always count on me, it also shows that I am bound to myself, and there’s no escaping who I am, and what may be coming my way. So, no matter how good he feels, and no matter how much I want to be with him, Avery deserves so much better than me.
Rolling onto his back, he pulls me close, and I rest my head on his chest as he wraps his protective arm around me.
If onlythiswas our infinity.
