Whipping around, I bring my hands down on the shotgun so fast I can see the look of fear and surprise in Luther’s eyes. With my fists and forearms, I knock the shotgun out of Luther’s hands. Then, picking him up by his jacket collar, I shove him against the nearest door.

“You son of a bitch!” I scream, banging his head repeatedly against the wall.

“Seth?” It’s Holly’s voice. “These men want you to stop. Please, Seth.”

“Dynamite!” Colt screams. “We need help!”

I’m trapped. I’m needed out front, but I have to get to Holly. I got us in to this—all of it—and there’s no way out. As much as it kills me to do it, I know Holly is as okay as she can be for the moment, so dropping Luther to the ground, I rush from the back room into the front. Fuck. The smell of fresh blood chokes me and I cough, covering my mouth with my arm to block some of the scent. Climbing over the bodies of men beating one another, I start swinging at any Dogs I can get. My foot slips in a pool of blood, but I catch myself. Looking to my right, I see Nick on his knees on the floor, holding a gash on his head. The wall behind him is splattered with blood. I look around frantically, but except for me shooting at the ceiling, no one else has drawn a gun. That’s because guns mean death—on both sides—and neither the Knights nor the Dogs are ready to let their brothers die.

To my left, I see Bullet and Bullseye pummeling a mountain-sized man. Past him, Colt fights off a Dog with a pair of nunchucks. Damn, he handles those things like he’s in a freaking martial arts movie.

As another Dog comes at me, I swing hard but he ducks and charges at my abdomen, knocking me down onto my back. From this supine position, I kick and punch, but the Dog has me trapped. Fuck. Glancing to the side, I see that nearly all the Knights are on the defensive, like me. We’re putting up a good fight, but the Knights are outnumbered. That means we’re going to lose this fight, some men, our clubhouse, and maybe even Holly.

“No.”

Pushing the Dog off of me and onto his back, I spring to my feet but there’s another Dog waiting for me. As strong as we are, this fight is almost impossible, because we’re outnumbered. Looking at this man, I see he’s tall but he uses a crutch—there’s no way he can fight me.

“Shit.” I recognize him.

He was the mountain of a man I crippled the last time I was here. But as angry as he must be, I’m faster. Dodging him, I rush past him, but the Dog I just knocked down is up again. Grabbing me, he throws me at the giant-sized man. Laughing, the man takes my hands and links them behind my back. He holds me as the other man ties my hands with rope and moves down to my legs to tie my ankles together.Shit, shit, shit!No matter how much I fight, I can’t break free. The more I struggle, the tighter the binds become, and now they’re cutting deep into my wrists. The only positive I can see right now is that the giant man was too careless to check me for a weapon.

I don’t care what happens to me—but what are they doing to Holly? Fuck! Sure, I’m caught, but there’s no way I’m going to let this hap—

Bracing myself, it feels like the earth moves below us. What the hell? Looking up, I see the ceiling tiles tremble and the walls of the clubhouse shake at the thunderous sound of dozens of bikes approaching.

“What the fuck?”

The Dog who tied me gets to his feet, ignoring me. But the mountain-sized man still stands behind me, and I’m trapped.

It’s like time freezes as everyone in the clubhouse halts their fighting and turns to the doorway. Suddenly, the door flies open and there stand the presidents of the Black Vipers and the Blazing Rebels. Both are wearing their colors—the Vipers a red insignia, and the Rebels orange.

Nick gets to his feet, although he’s wobbly when he stands. He’s the first to speak. “Venom.” He nods to the president of the Black Vipers. “You’re a long way from Collinstown.” Then, he turns to the other man. “And you, Bear, you’re just as far from Mascid.”

Ducking to step inside the clubhouse without hitting his head, Bear steps forward. Crap, I haven’t seen him in a while, and I’d forgotten his size. It’s easy to see how the man got his name. He must be seven-feet tall, with long dreads down his back and muscles bulging out of the sawed-off arms of his vest. “We could say the same thing to you, Squared.”

Nick nods and smiles at the mention of his nickname. “We’ve got business here. That’s why I sent you the text. Thought you should know.”

“Seems we got business here, too,” Bear answers.

“Really?” Nick raises an eyebrow. “You know this was our aggression. We didn’t call for you.”

Fighting against my binds, all I want to do is to get back to Holly, grab her, and run, but I’m trapped.

“No, you didn’t. We came of our own free will,” Bear explains.

Making eye contact with me, Venom steps up. “We hear this gang of Dogs has Dr. Holly Boling hostage.”

“What’s it to you?” Luther stumbles out of the back room. Shit, I should have hit his head harder.

Venom’s chest starts heaving when he sees Luther. “You piece of shit. You had no business attacking us.”

“It was just business.”

“Business that cost me men!”

Venom lunges for Luther, but Bear stops him. The whole room is on edge. Men stand around with their hands balled into fists as sweat and blood drip from their faces. Everyone is ready to attack.

“That’s the price of membership,” Luther scoffs, rubbing the back of his head.
