he introduced himself, ¡°I¡¯m Tank. The President of our club. But I¡¯m sure you knew that
already.¡±
Not knowing how to respond, I pursed my lips and looked up at Isaac, hoping he
would speak for me. Instead, he nudged me and motioned his head to Tank, and I cleared
my throat. ¡°I¡¯m Samantha,¡± I said simply, not giving them any other clues into mine and
Isaac¡¯s dynamic.
¡°Well, Samantha¡¡± His dark eyes dug through me. ¡°I¡¯m sure I don¡¯t have to tell you
that everything that goes on inside these doors is confidential.¡±
I nodded.
¡°Good,¡± he said. ¡°Save him.¡±
With that, he nodded to the other four men. Shifting their feet, they revealed who was
lying on the table. Passed out with his left pant leg cut off, drenched in blood, was the
man who threatened me outside of my house, Archer. Seeing his face, even unconscious,
triggered a physical response of fear in my body and I shot my hands to my mouth to
cover my gasp.
Shaking my head and walking backward, trembling, I managed to sputter out, ¡°N-no,
th-that¡¯s¡ that¡¯s¡ª¡±
Isaac swooped over and grabbed my shoulders before I got any more words out,
¡°Samantha, please don¡¯t do this.¡±
Reflexively, I would have snapped at him, telling him not to tell me not to react to
such a traumatizing situation, but Tank cut me off by asking, ¡°Is there a problem?¡±
¡°No, Tank, there isn¡¯t.¡± That time Isaac chose to speak for me, fueling my anger even
more.
¡°Yes, there is,¡± I shot to Tank, Isaac¡¯s face immediately falling. ¡°I¡¯ve been having
nightmares about that man for weeks and I¡¯m expected to save his life?¡± I threw my arms
in the air, directing my thoughts at all of the horrifying men, verging on tears but I held
them back. All of them looked furious at me, especially Crow. I couldn¡¯t stop panicking.
¡°I¡¯m not even a doctor! Why have you brought me here!?¡±
¡°Please, Sam¡ª¡± Isaac grabbed my arm, but I ripped it away.
¡°I can¡¯t do this,¡± I said firmly through my trembling breath. ¡°This is so messed up.
