Something in Isaac¡¯s eyes changed after he mentioned Travis being insane for cheating
on me. In an instant, he went from staring at me like I was the only person who existed to
looking like his mind was somewhere near the horizon. A cold demeanor snuck up his
face and I felt my heart pinch. Why did I think I was anything more than all the others
he brings home?
He stood up abruptly. ¡°Want another beer?¡±
¡°Uh, sure,¡± I tried not to show how hurt I was. He¡¯d been opening up to me and I had a
feeling he didn¡¯t do that easily. Then a second later, he was brushing by me like I didn¡¯t

That was when I noticed a pain in his eyes. I knew I might have been imagining it, but
I only had a second to act on it and my hand reached for his.
He stopped at my touch. For a second, I thought he looked disgusted, staring down at
me with his nostrils flaring. Quickly, he proved me wrong because when I blinked, we
were tangled in each other's arms and lips, and he asked, ¡°Want to move inside?¡±

Isaac grabbed my hand and pulled me from the chair, cupping my cheek in one hand,
