¡°Yeah, right,¡± Lizzie said. ¡°You had your date with the hot biker. How was it?¡±
¡°Why don¡¯t we ever talk about you guys?¡± I asked. ¡°Ellen, are you looking forward to
school starting back up again soon? Must be looking forward to a break.¡±
¡°Oh, yeah. Someone else can watch them eat glue, but enough about them,¡± she said.
¡°Come on, I¡¯m living vicariously through you here. It¡¯s been a while since anyone who
didn¡¯t tuck in their shirts flirted with me.¡±
¡°Fine.¡± I turned to Lizzie. ¡°What about you? How¡¯s that guy you¡¯ve been seeing?¡±
¡°He fell asleep during sex the other week and he eats too many nachos,¡± she said
simply. ¡°There. You¡¯re all up to date. Spill.¡±
¡°Guys, oh my god,¡± I said, unable to hide my beaming anymore. ¡°I don¡¯t know what¡¯s
going on with me, but I think I¡¯m falling for him.¡±
¡°What?¡± both of them asked with astonishment.
¡°What happened to ¡®it¡¯s nothing serious¡¯?¡± Ellen asked skeptically.
¡°I know, and it isn¡¯t anything serious yet,¡± I said, ¡°But I mean¡ he took me to look at
the stars out in the middle of nowhere. It was amazing.¡±
¡°Oh my god,¡± Lizzie said, swooning along with me. ¡°That¡¯s so sweet. I¡¯m so jealous.¡±
¡°Is it such a good idea going out in the middle of nowhere with some guy you hardly
know?¡±
¡°Ellen, come on.¡± I frowned. ¡°You guys were the ones who convinced me to go out with
him.¡±
¡°It was her idea.¡± Ellen pointed to Lizzie. ¡°I supported it but¡¡±
¡°But he rides a motorcycle?¡± I asked with a raised eyebrow.
¡°I just¡ worry that maybe you¡¯re getting a little too involved,¡± she said. ¡°What do you
know about him really?¡±
I scowled, knowing she was far from being wrong. But still, I felt compelled to defend
him. ¡°I asked him last night if he was dangerous and he said no.¡±
¡°Well, honey. What dangerous man would answer honestly to that?¡±
I had to give a nod in agreement, knowing she had me beat there.
¡°All right, all right,¡± Lizzie interjected. ¡°She¡¯s sleeping with the dude and gained some
feelings. It doesn¡¯t mean they¡¯re gonna go elope.¡±
