wisdom. ¡°Samantha, you remind me of myself.¡±

I furrowed my brows, shocked at how such a strong and brave woman could see

herself in someone like me. ¡°S-seriously?¡±

¡°Seriously,¡± she said. ¡°I was a little younger than yourself when I met Tank. Twenty-

five, had just finished college, ready to find some plain ol¡¯ accountant to marry while

hoping to one day make a few dollars from my arts degree.¡±

Three months ago, I was expecting a ring on my finger from a software developer

who left me for a girl he met online.

¡°Then,¡± Evelyn breathed out a laugh. ¡°My roommate and I got into a fight over

something silly. One of us didn¡¯t do the dishes or something, I can¡¯t remember. But oh

myself with, but hey, he made me happy. Parents sure weren¡¯t pleased when I invited him

over for dinner, that¡¯s for sure. But hey, they got over it.¡± Her eyes focused into mine, as if

she got lost in her memories. ¡°Anyway, my point was, well. Oliver, tell Samantha why you

were in complete and utter awe by my personality.¡±

Tank rolled his eyes. ¡°Not laying it on a little thick, are you?¡±

¡°Saying facts, babe.¡±

He chuckled with his hand in his chin, appearing wistful. ¡°She¡¯s not wrong though. I¡¯d

spent my life in Mascid and talked to many women. None of them had anything that came

close to resembling Evie¡¯s wit and brains. Damn, I¡¯d never laughed so much with anyone,
