¡°Am I not supposed to be here?¡± He could tell I was getting offended because he raised

his palms in the air and rushed to my side. The bedsheet fell when he grabbed my hand

that clutched to it, revealing my naked chest, but his eyes stayed locked to mine.

¡°You¡¯re supposed to be here,¡± he assured me. ¡°I guess¡ I guess something went on

tonight. I¡¯ve gotta go, actually¡¡±

¡°Oh,¡± I said. ¡°Me, too.¡±

I turned my face away and jumped off the bed, searching for my pants. I tried to stop

it, but already I could feel my walls build up around me. A needle pricked my heart at him

leaving in the middle of the night, but when I bent over and saw a bike helmet on the

He nodded and dragged his eyes back to the road. When we pulled up, he removed the

keys and turned to me. ¡°Samantha, look¡¡±

¡°Isaac, it¡¯s fine.¡±

¡°No, I¡¡± He looked at his lap. ¡°Tonight was amazing and I¡ I just really hope we can

do it again. I hope this doesn¡¯t change anything.¡±

Touched by his affection, I managed to smile. I knew with all the red flags screaming

that I should run away, but I couldn¡¯t resist another repeat of the evening. ¡°I¡¯d love to.¡±

When I answered, he didn¡¯t say anything, just leaned over the console to press his lips

against mine one last time. I made sure to savor the taste of his tongue on mine, the

scratching of his palms against my cheek, the way he said my name when he broke away
