“Claymore! Oh my God.”

I reached around to grab her by the throat, squeezing it, and I caught a glimpse of her smile. I grunted, feeling the orgasm stir inside me, and I quickly pulled out, coating her ass in my warm load. The water washed it away with ease, and I turned her around, planting a kiss on her plump lips. She could barely stand now and the exhaustion overcame us both. I tucked her hair behind her ear, whispering softly.

“I love you,” I told her again.

“I love you too.”

Chapter Fourteen

Ella

I relished in the feeling of him, in the woodsy scent of his cologne that still lingered on my skin even after I’d showered. It was the first time in my life I’d let myself be so vulnerable, to feel things I was convinced simply didn’t exist for me. For so much of my life, I was sure I didn’t have time for love. I knew I’d been falling for him for a while, but I desperately tried to push it from my mind. I tried to ignore the feelings that stirred inside me because I was sure it’d only make my life harder.

Claymore captivated me. He was the light in the darkness that encapsulated my life, and for once I felt at home. It was all different now. I finally started to feel like I belonged once the doubtful glances had died down and the concern emanating from all of the members had dissipated.

Claymore had gone off to help Tank look into a potential lead on Fang while I was left behind, safe within the confines of the Rebels’ clubhouse. I had a new babysitter this time, one I didn’t know too well, but he didn’t seem to mind hanging around with me.Archer.I took a seat on the wooden kitchen stool, watching him take a swig of his beer, raising his eyebrow at me.

“That was quite a speech there a few nights ago, Ella. I didn’t get the chance to tell you earlier, but I have to say, you changed a lot of minds with that one.”

“I just wanted everyone to know that we’re all on the same side here,” I said.

“Just so you know, I never doubted you. I always believed Claymore made the right choice by protecting you. You two are good together,” he said with a wink.

I chuckled, hearing the sound of a bike pulling up out front. I furrowed my brow, not expecting anyone to be back yet.I thought it was all hands on deck.

I followed Archer out into the foyer and he opened up the front door, bracing on its frame nonchalantly.

“Razor! You took forever, man. Hey, make sure you give Ella some pizza before you head out,” Archer said, patting him on the back.

The smell of hot, crispy pizza wafted through the air. My stomach started to rumble when Razor brought the two boxes back over to the kitchen island. He smiled warmly at me, sliding the box over so I could grab a slice.

“Thank you, Razor.”

“Anytime.”

“Ella, I’d sit and eat with you, but the game’s on. You’re welcome to join if you’d like,” Archer said.

“Thank you, but I think I’m just going to eat quickly and head to bed. I’m really tired.”

“Of course. Razor, tell Tank everything’s covered here. You should probably go help him out.”

“Yeah, I’m leaving now.”

“Great. See ya!”

I grabbed a slice of pizza, the cheese oozing off the sides, and my stomach rumbled. It smelled heavenly, the scent of fresh oregano and mozzarella filling my nostrils as I took my first bite. I ate two slices and washed it down with a glass of water before I strolled past the living room to the staircase.

The game was on at half-time and Archer was fast asleep in the reclining chair, clutching his beer tightly. He snored loudly like he hadn’t gotten any real rest in a while, his body completely engulfed in exhaustion. I smiled, heading up to my room to find that my cell phone was buzzing over on the nightstand.

I rushed over to it, seeing Hallie’s name illuminate the screen.

“Hey, Hallie. I’m sorry it’s been so long since we last talked. Things are a little crazy right now, but—”

All I heard on the other end of the line was her shaky breathing. I furrowed my brow, my heart starting to race, because I instantly knew something had to be wrong.

“Hallie?”

“Ella.”
