Our gazes all snapped to the door as the teacher strolled through the door. He had some real big dick energy. Definitely Alpha.

King looked back at me. “Now get the fuck out of my section.”

I threw back my head and laughed, drawing the eyes of everyone in the room, including the teacher. I gave King a respectful tilt of my chin and went and sat at the back in an empty section. Well, I scared another little Alpha out of the way, but he was weak. I could probably tear him apart in human form.

The teacher cleared his throat at the front of the room. “Most of you should know each other from high school, with the glaring exception of this guy. Better introduce yourself so we can get the posturing out of the way.”

I’m not shy. Hell, I thrive under the scrutiny of other people, so I uncurled myself from my seat, standing tall. “I’m Bohdie. My Pride lives down in the States, near Black Mountain. I’m an Aquarius and I like candlelit dinners.”

The teacher's lips twitched, but he didn’t laugh. “Nice to meet you. I’m Micah. Fuck around in my class and I’ll put your head through a wall.”

My jaw dropped but I nodded. “Uh, sure thing, Boss. I’ll keep my fuckery to myself.”

Micah’s eyes dropped to King and Christopher. “That goes for you two as well. Any repeats of high school and I will kick your asses to the curb.”

Christopher shrugged and King tilted his chin.

Micah sighed. “Okay. Let’s get this shit started. Firstly, we are discussing the hierarchy…”

I tuned him out and let my mind wander back to Enit, and a plan began to form in my brain.

I was going to woo the shit out of her, until the only name she knew was mine.

Enit

Soon enough, the school year settled into a pattern like every other year. I overloaded myself with classes, Christopher and Carmen hovered over me like they were dragons protecting their hoard, and I tried—and failed—to fade into the background.

But it was weird this year. I couldn’t fade because for the first time in my life, I was actually seen. Every time I walked into a room that contained Bohdie the lion Alpha, my eyes were uncontrollably drawn to him. And every single time he was looking right back. If we were walking near each other, he’d wait, hold the door open for me, and after I passed through? He’d just lower his head respectfully and murmur, “Omega,” in that voice that shot pleasure straight down my spine.

He didn’t try and box me in. Didn’t pursue me. No, he was standing on the sidelines, watching me like a patient hunter. This week, he’d upped the ante by leaving me candy. The first time, he pressed a caramel-filled chocolate bar into my hand as I walked past him in the hallway. That was it. I’d stood there staring at the chocolate bar in my hand, still warm from his grip, and watched his huge shoulders move through the crowds of students.

It should be creepy really. But he never tried to hide the fact that it was him leaving me these tokens. Sometimes he’d walk into my class, leave it on my desk in front of me, murmur a soft greeting, then leave again. Everyone looked at me then. No fading required. And more than half the gazes were red-hot with jealousy.

I got it too. Bohdie was… sexy as fuck. His blond hair that fell over his forehead. Those big golden eyes that saw into your soul. That body that was all hard planes and broad shoulders and made me want to lick him all over. And that was confusing as hell too.

I didn’t have boyfriends.

I stood in front of the elevator that would take me down to the sub-levels, and the second part of what was making this year so damn anxiety-inducing. Miss Pea had decided that until she could find a replacement Omega instructor, my time would be best spent in the infirmary. There weren't often many people down there, but with a school this large, there were always one or two. And if not, the infirmary doubled as a research center.

But the infirmary was Stacey’s domain. Miss Pea wanted me to be her assistant for the semester.

“The doors are open,” a voice said right beside my ear, and I jumped, giving a little yelp. I looked at Bohdie, who was standing there bleeding into a t-shirt. I gasped, reaching up to pry his hand away so I could have a good look, but he pulled away.

“Elevator first. I have to go down and get a couple of stitches. Went pretty deep apparently.”

I stepped into the elevator, and he stepped in after me. He dropped the shirt and it looked like someone had taken a baseball bat to his head. I clicked my tongue, my brows drawn tight.

“What happened?”

“Got hit in the head with a baseball bat.”

A small laugh burst from my mouth, and I slapped a hand over my lips. “I’m sorry, that wasn’t funny. I didn’t mean to laugh.”

He beamed at me, which made the bloody gash in his head start pouring out again, so he lifted the shirt back up.

“It’s okay, Enit. I’m pretty sure I’d take a hundred baseball bats to the head to hear that sound again,” he said softly.
