Judge was nodding slowly. “Makes sense. You don’t think they’ll try to burn them out or anything like that? Smoke them out of their foxhole?”
I shook my head. “It would literally go against their biology to harm the Omegas, or even potentially harm them. More likely is that they’ll try to get through the guards. Or they’ll congregate outside and fight amongst themselves.”
With a plan of action decided, we set about moving all the Omegas to the one spot. Loren looked exhausted, and Finlo looked absolutely gleeful as he shot his fellow Manix full of elephant tranquilizers.
Moving them one at a time was hell. Mainly, getting their families to hand them over was a pain in the ass every single time. It wasn’t that they were opposed to the idea—if anything, they all looked exhausted too. No, it was giving them over to a six foot five vampire covered in tattoos, who quite frankly oozed deviancy, that was the problem. Raine had to step in quite a few times, and it ended up being Raine doing most of the ferrying back and forth. I guess looking like a college student had its perks, because in the face of danger, they could forget she was just as capable of killing a person as easily as the big bastards who were her bodyguards.
Speaking of guards, Raine had also called in her personal contingent of protective security personnel, who looked super pissed that she’d super speeded her way to a different country in the middle of the night, but took the direction to guard the Legion building with little grumbling.
Finally, all fifteen Omegas were secured in the holding cells—holding cells that wereconstructedto withstand the force of a Manix, and were giant to boot. I’d seen smaller apartments holding entire three generational families. There were mattresses lining the floor and so many blankets and cushions that it looked like Bed, Bath & Beyond had thrown up in there. I breathed a relieved sigh.
The keys were in the cells with the Omegas, with the females that we had in there anyway. Finlo’s mom and sister had volunteered—or been commandeered, depending on how you looked at it—plus Doctor Stacey, despite Bohdie’s protests. The vampires and the Convocation guards were keeping everyone at bay, though they were beginning to amass out the front of the doors.
I followed Gatlin outside, and he lifted his nose to the air. I did the same, even though my senses were weaker in this form.
“There’s still another one out there,” he grumbled. I frowned, because how was that possible? Radic had accounted for every female Beta in town; there weren't that many.
“Bonnie?”
Gatlin shook his head. “Wrong direction.”
“I’m going to assume you’d know if it were Naja.”
Gatlin gave me a droll look, and I shrugged. Couldn’t hurt to ask, right?
I shook my head. Whoever it was, they were on their own. “I need to sleep.” I looked over at the supernaturals who were holding back the Manix with ease, and Gatlin slapped my back hard.
“Yeah, sleep. I’m sure. Go home to your mates, Dominic. I’ll watch over this clusterfuck for a while.” He gave me a stern look. “But be back by lunch tomorrow because I’ve got my own mate that needs my attention, and Ellar and Seven will be dehydrated husks if I don’t hurry back.”
He didn’t have to tell me twice. I shed my clothes, picked up my cell phone in my mouth, and sprinted home.

Pryce
My body was out of my control, and normally that would freak me out, but right now? I was happy to let the Beast take the wheel and run off pure instinct. You’d think that the Beast’s first desire would be to fuck the Omega in heat, but it wasn’t. I mean, I definitely wanted to do that, but it wasn’t the first instinct I had. No, the first thing I did was race down to the kitchen, grab all the snacks and water I could find, and race back up the stairs.
Now, I was feeding her grapes one by one, bathing in her scent like it was the oxygen I needed to live, while she sat naked under the blankets, the sheet tucked under her arms.
Courtland watched from the end of the bed, his hand wrapped around her ankle but not pushing for anything more. Just comforting her. She seemed calmer when we were both touching her.
“Are you feeling better, Omega?” Even my voice had dropped low. She nodded, her gaze catching mine before falling to the huge hard-on that was tenting my sweats. “Ignore that,” I mumbled, my cheeks growing hot.
She gave me a sweet smile, raising a single eyebrow. “Hard to ignore,” she teased, and I felt myself grinning back, and just like that, the intensity of the moment was broken. I fed her a little more, my Beast seeming to alternate between wanting to feed her and wanting to eat her, and it probably had something to do with the fact that I’d thought she was dying for nearly a week.
I had two warring urges, but given the ache in my balls, one of them was definitely winning.
“Pryce? Will you kiss me?” she asked softly, and I launched myself across her body. I was aiming for her lips, but my hand got caught in the blankets and I ended up face-planting in her boobs.
The silence in the room was so fucking loud. Honestly, even crickets would have been gobsmacked. I buried my face further in her breasts to hide my shame. Then they started shaking. Actually, her whole body started shaking. Was she having a seizure or something?
I lifted my head to see she was red in the face. But I realized it was because she was trying to hold in a laugh.
I dropped my head back down on her chest and sighed. “Just let it out.”
The laugh that burst from her chest echoed around the room, filling me with so much damn love that I couldn’t help but tilt my head back to watch her happiness. Her hands came up to brush through my hair as she laughed, and I was pretty sure in that moment that I loved her. How could I not love her? She made it so easy.
“Come here, Pryce. I still want my kiss,” she chuckled. I lifted myself up on my arms, slowly this time, until my body was pressed along hers, my lips only an inch away.
