First of all, I don’t know who she thought she was talking to. Secondly, I ain’t going anywhere near a bitch that’s ovulating. She lost her everlasting mind. That’s trap behavior. Having kids with her is a no-go. The exact reason why I always strapped up when fucking with her.

Bitches knew the weight my last name carried. They’d do anything to try and trap me, thinking they hit a gold mine. Ain’t no ho about to catch me slipping, thinking that she gon’ be set for life. Fuck that.

Opening the door, I climbed out the car and slipped my phone into my pocket.

“C’mon!” I heard a feminine voice scream. My head whipped around, but I couldn’t place eyes on where the voice had come from. “Please? Or do I need to call nine one one?”

Shutting my car door, I hit the fob and followed the voice. “So, you’re really about to make me do this, huh?” I stopped next to the shopping building where I saw this woman standing in front of a tree. She stood there in a money green tennis skirt, knee length socks and a pink cotton candy colored sweater. Her black hair was pulled up in a bun on top of her head with some curly pieces hanging on either side of the nape of her neck. She tossed her hands up at the tree.

And people thought I was crazy.

“You losing yo’ mind? You need help finding that shit?”

She glanced back at me and snarled. That’s when I realized she was the chick that bumped into me the other night at the library. She’d caught me all off guard when she came out of that door. The way her fingertips stroked my forehead was soft and gentle. The only other person that has ever touched me like that was my mama. Her amber cheeks reddened and bow-shaped lips turned downward.

“This cat is stuck in the tree. It won’t come down. I’m going to call the fire department.”

“You’re doing all this over a fucking cat?”

“Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?” She rested her hand on her right hip and shifted her small weight to the left side. This girl was so fucking small that she looked like a child.

“How old are you?” My thoughts were taking over my mouth.

Ignoring my question, she kneeled down and reached inside the Steve Madden tote that sat on the ground at her feet and pulled out her phone.

“You’re really ’bout to bother those people ’bout a cat in a tree?”

“Yeah, it’s part of their job,” she answered, still not looking in my direction, her fingers moving swiftly across the screen.

I stepped closer to her. “Do cats really always land on their feet?”

“Why?” Her head whipped in my direction. I picked up a rock I saw on the ground and tossed it at the cat. It hissed and flipped out the tree, landing straight on it’s back with its feet up in the air. “Are you crazy!” Her eyes expanded through her glasses. She pushed her square frames up with her index finger and ran over to the cat’s aid. It jumped onto its feet and limped off.

“See, it’s alright.”

“You’re insane.” She snatched her purse from the ground and scurried behind the cat. I should’ve just minded my business and went on into the flower shop, but I was intrigued. The urge to see what her lil nerdy ass was up to took over my frame, and I strolled behind her.

“Come here, kitty kitty,” she called out to the cat as she chased behind it. That damn cat was nowhere near a kitty. The bitch was fat as fuck, looking like it had swallowed three fucking kittens, and she had the nerves to call it a kitten.

“Can you please stop following me?” she tossed over her shoulder. She hadn’t looked in my direction, so I wasn’t awarethat she knew I was following her. The trail of vanilla and snickerdoodle lingered behind her.

“You mean like you’re following thathelplesskitty?”

She stopped in the middle of the street and whipped her head in my direction. The scowl resting on her face was sexy as fuck. I wouldn’t mind if she looked at me like that all the time. My dick throbbed, but I ignored the sensation.

“I—” was the only thing that escaped her lips before I craned my arm around her waist and pulled her out of the street. A black sedan with dark tinted windows blared it’s horn at us as it sped by. I pulled my gun from my waistline and aimed it at the car. The thud of her heartbeat could be felt through her back—strong and steady. I’m not certain if it was from her almost getting ran over, being this close to me or the fact that I had a gun in my hand.

Pow! Pow!

I released two bullets, shattering the back windshield. She spun around in my arm, eyes wider than saucers. That’s when I noticed they weren’t dark like I’d thought. They were the color of Hennessy.

“You’re really out of your mind.” She pulled away from me. “I’m going home.” Adjusting the purse on her shoulder, she stormed back toward the building where I’d found her at. She jogged across the street and opened the door on this old ass pickup truck. That let me know that she’s already spoken for, but it didn’t matter to me because I already made up in my mind that she belongs to me.

Her truck zoomed past me, and I memorized her plate to look her shit up later and find her ass. Right now, I had to get in this flower shop and get Ma these flowers.
