Maybe I’ll just text him.
Patting my pockets, my phone isn’t there. I frown, looking around for a second, before remembering that I left it in the bathroom.
Where Grayson is.
Crap.
Thundering up the stairs, I pound my fist on the door of the bathroom. I can’t hear the water running, so he must be out already.
“G, I left my—”
The door swings open, and my heart plummets when I’m levelled with Grayson glare. My phone in his hand and messages from Reid light up my screen. I swallow, throat tight, looking between my phone and his scowl. My stomach twists into a thousand knots.
“G, let me explain,” I let out quickly, my tone wary.
Reaching for my phone, Grayson turns his large back, blocking me from snatching it.
“Reid. I’m only a gentleman for you. Reid. I’ll be ready by then. Reid. I wish I could give you a lift. Reid. Then I wouldn’t have to see you go…” he pauses, swallows and turns back out to look down at me, “with Grayson,” he adds in a hollow voice that stings my lungs.
The gnawing at my insides increases as I feel my eyes fill with tears, my lips starting to tremble. “G–”
“You’re messaging my brother?” His voice sounds almost faint, and I feel my pulse quickening in my veins as he turns to face me again. Facestill, eyes downturned and prickling with moisture, bile tickles the back of my throat. “Gray…”
His cobalt irises harden as he drops his hand, looking so wounded, like I’ve just ripped apart his soul. I can’t handle it. I hate that I’ve hurt him. I never wanted to hurt him.
“You and Reid?” he wheezes out.
My wobbly lips part, but no words float out as my body shivers all over.
“You went behind my back,” Grayson continues hoarsely.
I shake my head, not knowing what to do.
He shoves my phone at me and squeezes past to step into the hallway. I peer up at the mirror opposite me, eyes stained pink and blurry, before I rush after him, still clutching my phone to my chest. “Gray!”
Bolting down the stairs, Sawyer, Cole and Holden are all watching me as I run through the living room and out the back door. Grayson is striding towards the barn when Reid comes out of the doorway, catching both of us with a frown.
“Gray!” I shout louder, but he doesn’t stop.
Reid stands still, watching me chase after his brother.
Grayson goes to swing at him, but Reid dodges his fist. Grayson tackles him to the dusty ground, landing with a thud. I rush over, tears falling down my eyes as they fight, grunting and hitting, and I don’t know how to stop them.
“Gray, please stop.”
I try breaking it up, but I’m elbowed in the cheek, pain flaring across my face. I fall backwards, holding my face. Holden and Sawyer pull them apart.
“Stop it,” Holden hisses.
Grayson’s face is beet red as Reid glares at him, jaw locked and bleeding from his eyebrow. My eyes stare at it, frightened that it’ll trigger his migraines.
“How could you do this!” Grayson shouts venomously.
I flinch at the harshness.
Reid stares at him silently as Grayson thrashes in Sawyer’s arms.
“I trusted you!” Tears fall from Grayson’s eyes, crushing me even more.
