“Maz is fine. If I hadn’t seen it for myself I wouldn’t believe she just gave birth to my kid.” Ry shook his head. “Anyway, don’t forget we’re keeping Mad overnight. Jack and Alyssa are heading back to their room too. We’ll see you at breakfast.”
“Wait. Everyone is going? Shouldn’t the bride and groom leave first?” Mallory asked.
“Oh, yeah, we wouldn’t want to break with tradition.” Ry winked at her. “Why don’t you yell goodbye and duck out now?”
Jacob laughed. Then he bent, put an arm behind her knees and the other behind her back before lifting her against his chest. “I’m taking my bride to bed!” he yelled at the top of his voice.
Mallory felt her cheeks heat, knew she had to be as red as a beetroot. “Jacob!”
“Shush, wife.” He strode across the restaurant someone had booked exclusively for them—probably Jack—to a chorus of byes and see you tomorrows.
“You’re crazy.”
“Yep. Crazy about you.” He didn’t put her down, just walked through the hotel lobby with her in his arms. It more than likely wasn’t the most outrageous thing to happen in Las Vegas, she was sure.
“I’m crazy about you too.”
“Good, because now you’re stuck with me.”
“I like being stuck with you.”
“How about getting stuck by me?” he waggled his eyebrows.
“Jacob!” she quickly glanced around to be sure they hadn’t been overheard.
“What? You must like getting stuck by me, you let it happen often enough.”
“I can stop that at any time…”
He threw his head back and laughed. “I’d love to see you try. From the first time you let me stick you, you haven’t been able to keep your hands off me.”
“I can’t help it if you’re good at it.”
“It’s not me, Lory, it’s us.We’regood at ittogether.”
“We certainly are.” A smile on her lips, she said, “And we obviously know how to do it right. We got pregnant the first time we didn’t use protection.”
“Theonlytime we didn’t use protection.”
“You know what this means, right?”
Jacob grinned. “No more condoms.”
“I was going to say this is the fallout of being reckless.”
“Nothing about us is reckless and any fallout that happens from us being together is worth it.”
She didn’t say it, but Mallory agreed.
Anything that happened because they were together was worth it.
