“I’m expecting to hear from her about this.”
“I’ve got things in place to stop that. I’ve also got Shelby covered because I think Kristina might go there when she can’t get to you.”
“Shelby moved in with Gannon. He’ll keep her safe.”
Oakley hums. I can’t decide if she agrees with me or not.
“You don’t think he will?”
“Oh, I know he will, but I’ve got it covered as well to give you extra peace of mind.”
Bending, I drop a kiss on her forehead. “Thank you for thinking of my sister while dealing with this mess.”
“She’s important to you so she’s important to me.”
Her words say it all.
And make me fall in love with her a little deeper.

“Everything okay,” Walker whispers in my ear.
“Yes. Why wouldn’t it be?”
“You’re being really quiet.”
“I’m just enjoying this.”
“This?”
“Yeah, you and my closest friends getting on like a house on fire.”
And they are. Sure, there was the usual tension between Nat and any new person but once we got back to Walker’s and she relaxed, that changed.
“What can I say? I’m a likable guy.” He grins at me.
“Yes, you are. And you’re my guy.” Why I feel the need to reinforce that is beyond me except I like saying it so I don’t fight the urge.
And I likeknowingit.
“Speaking of that. I’ve got something to show you.” He stands and offers me a hand.
“I’ve seen what you’ve got,” I laugh but take his help and get to my feet.
“I’m not showing you that!” He’s laughing too and it draws everyone’s attention.
“Where are you two going? Do we need to leave?” Nat asks.
“No. We’ll be back in a minute.”
He doesn’t explain further, just leads me from the room toward his bedroom.
“Are you sure we don’t need to go?” Blake yells behind us.
“No!” Walker yells just as loud.
I can’t help the grin that splits my face. I really do like how well they’re all getting on. After the disaster that is Nat’s husband, I had some concerns but I should have known not to worry.
