It won’t bond us, but my omega is screaming for a bite and a knot in a way that I’ve never experienced before.

“Bite?” His brows shoot up. “Jo, I want to bond you, but are you sure now is the best time—ahhh.” His eyes roll in the back of his head as I lean forward and pull his hair again.

“It won’t bond us. It can’t. The medication will stop it from happenin’. You’re on inhibitors, it should be fine.” I don’t know why I’m so sure of this, but maybe I’m just trying to find any reason I can to give in to the whims of my omega. “Please.” The word comes out a whine. “Please, Hayden, I need your bite.”

Hayden growls, his eyes flashing with something before he flips us so I’m on my back and he’s driving into me. The new angle allows him to reach even deeper than he was before, and I cry out at the new sensation, no longer able to talk with how quick and hard he’s thrusting.

The orgasm that had been sitting just out of reach catapults front and center, and when I come undone, Hayden shoves his knot inside me, locking us together like two pieces of a puzzle.

“I love you, Jo,” he pants, rutting his hips shallowly as he finds his own release. My heart soars at his words. I’ve known him barely a week, but I know that I love this alpha.

And then he’s biting me, the flesh of my breast under my nipple, and the brief flash of pain gives way to unholy ecstasy. I come again from his bite, my walls pulsing and fluttering around his knot, buried deep in me.

Something blooms in me, lighting me up from the inside out.

Mine.

Hayden pulls back to look at me with hooded eyes, and the next thing I know, I’m lunging forward, my teeth are piercing the skin above his heart. A connection unfurls between us, as natural as breathing, and I feel like I’ve finally found where I’m supposed to be.

In Hayden’s arms.

He groans, his hips stuttering to a stop, and when he rolls us to our sides, his hazel eyes pierce mine.

Warmth unfurls in my chest, and as I come out of my lust-filled haze, my nose twitches at the new scent that surrounds me.

No. Not a new scent, it’s still smoky and pepper, but…more.

Mine.

“Hayden,” I breathe as his eyes widen and his own nostrils flair.

“Jo,” he gasps, his hands finding my face as he kisses me in earnest. “I knew you were mine.”

Because Hayden? He’s my true scent match. I don’t know how, but…we bonded.

My sweet, tortured boy is my fated mate.

“Wait,” I shake my head, pulling back. “If you can scent me…does that mean that everyone else will be able to as well?”

Hayden’s expression morphs from glee to realization. “Shit.”

If the facility realizes that we’ve not only found a work around for the medication they use to control us, but that we’vebondedas well?

We are so fucked.

“It shouldn’t have been possible.” Nurse Helaena looks between the two of us as she digs through her supplies. “I wonder if the venom worked as a neutralizer for the medication…but…then a bond would have been initiated when there was that accidental alpha-bite five years ago…”

“Do you think it’s because we’re a true scent match?” Hayden asks, running a hand through his hair as his arm tightens around my shoulders.

She pauses, her mouth agape. “A true scent match? Those are so rare…” she trails off, and I feel guilty for dragging her into this mess.

After Hayden’s knot had gone down, we both panicked, unsure of what to do. Our scents are so strong, we were stuffing towels under the door just in case. Betas may not be able to smell as well as we can, but this shit is pungent as hell. Luckily, Kole came looking for me not long after and we were able to tell him through the door to go find Nurse Helaena and ask her to come here. Poor thing was terrified until she realized where he was taking her.

Now, Kole is waiting just outside our door as the beta nurse intently goes through her supplies for plain ol’ scent suppressing cream.
