It seems like it’s never-ending, but also not enough. My body is in charge now, arching, grinding, and chasing its pleasure while Massimo pounds inside me and chases his. When he finally comes, he lets out a snarl before shouting my name.
It takes us both a long time to finally come down from the high, for him to finally roll off me, but he pulls me with him so I’m splayed over him, both of us a sticky, sweaty mess.
I’m panting, trying to catch my breath. “Fuck,” I hiss when he suddenly snaps his hips up and presses himself deep inside me. “Massimo.”
“I don’t want you wasting a fucking drop, Lucy,” he rasps, watching me with a renewed heat in his eyes. “I want all my seed inside you.”
I blink at him. “Are you trying to get me pregnant again, Massimo?”
He gives me an unrepentant look. “And if I am?”
“Then you’re going to be disappointed. They gave me a shot for birth control after I left the hospital that won’t wear off for a few more months.” Then I level him with a hard look. “And you don’t get to decide when I get pregnant, Massimo. I just had a baby, I’m not ready for another one.”
I see disappointment flash, but then it’s replaced by excitement. “Then I guess we’ll just have to keep practicing until you’re ready.” He brings his hand up and traces along my side. “I can’t wait to see you swollen with another baby, cerbiatta.”
“Do you have a breeding kink we need to talk about, Massimo?” I joke lightly, though a small thrill of heat settles low in my belly at the thought of him filling me over and over again, hoping that his seed will take hold.
“I didn’t before now, but fuck, cerbiatta, with you, I think it’s a very good possibility.”
I make a mental note to make sure I have some very good birth control. I don’t mind the work to make a baby, but having another one isn’t something I want right now. “We can talk about it once we’re sure that we’re both ready,” I tell him firmly. “Besides, you haven’t been in the thick of things with a baby yet. He’s coming up on a time where he’ll be fussy and cry all the time. You might be rethinking that plan.”
“I don’t care about any of that, Lucy. I’ll walk the floors with you as many times as we need to. You’re not alone anymore. We’re going to be partners.”
I believe him, and it makes the fear lighten. I have no idea how things are going to turn out, but I feel like it’s going to be alright.
Later, when Massimo and I are snuggled back in bed, Soren between us, cooing and kicking his arms and legs happily, the last bits of fear slip away. Especially when Massimo looks at me, eyes warm and happy.
“Sienna and Amara want to stay until Alonzo and Rori come back,” I finally whisper, reluctant to break the spell, but knowing it has to be done. I need to know what he’s thinking.
His eyes search mine. “And what do you want to do?”
I swallow hard. Will he think I’m a terrible person for my answer? “I want to leave. I don’t feel safe here. Not knowing that she got in here, she held my son, she tricked us. I don’t want to spend the next however long looking over my shoulder or wondering if Amara is who she is. I don’t want to say that to her, because I know it is Amara, but it’s that doubt, you know? Does that make me a terrible person?”
“That makes you a very smart one, and a protective mother, Lucy. It’s only natural to be scared of that. I want to be here for my friend, but we can’t all stay here. I want Rori brought back fine, but I’m ready to go home. And I want you and Soren to come home with me. Take some time for ourselves and let ourselves relax.” He puts his hand on Soren’s belly, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of his head. Soren gives a soft sigh, his eyes drifting down as he slips into sleep.
“And Alonzo and Rori?”
“Urso will be staying around and I think Zeno and Kida will be staying here for a short time too to get things sorted here for Nico as well. If anything goes wrong, there are people that will be there to help him. And if they need me, I’ll fly back.”
“I feel guilty. Like I’m making you choose.”
“I will always choose you and our family, Lucy. And if you don’t feel safe here, then I want to take you somewhere that will make you feel that way. And I think you’ll feel that way when we get to Sicily. We have our own area, but you’ll be surrounded by people that we know and trust. Things that happened here don’t happen there.”
“You really want me to go with you?” I need him to tell me again, really make it real.
“It’s not even a question, Lucy. I always want you with me. We’re going home tomorrow,” he says promises me. “I’ve already had some things ordered for our room for him while we set up a nursery in the room next to ours. I thought you’d like to decorate it.”
I smile and lean over Soren to press my lips to his. “I love you, Massimo.”
“I love you too,cerbiatta.”
Then I grin. “And if you’re serious about that library, I have a few other things I want us to try.” He arches a brow, but then my grin turns wicked. “How do you feel about wearing a mask? I have a few book scenes I really want to try.”
His eyes darken. “I’ll order one in the morning.”
Looks like I’m about to have my own version of a book boyfriend after all.
