Then she hangs up, pulls the SIM card out, smashes it, tosses the phone, and barks in Russian to the pilot to turn off the trackers and take us to our secondary destination.

She looks at me. “What?”

“Kisses?” I repeat incredulously. “What the fuck was that?”

“Oh, that’s a fun little side project I’m working on,” she grins wickedly, eyes bright with mirth and anticipation. Then she gets to her feet. “Get some shut-eye, sweetheart. We’re hitting the ground running.” She walks to the back of the plane to the lone bedroom and shuts the door behind her.

I stare at it, shocked, confused, before I finally just shake my head and look back at the laptop she left behind. One she did on purpose. It’s a reminder and a warning.

How the hell am I going to tell Alonzo to go home? Because the only thing that’s going to happen if he keeps after me is his death. And I don’t want that on my conscience.

I might be in love with him, but I can’t forgive him. He broke my heart, and I don’t give men a second chance. Especially not ones that have the ability to break it for a second time.
