Auggie blushed. He didn’t know why because it wasn’t something he’d ever fantasized about, but every time Thor mentioned spanking, it made him hot.

“And second of all, like I said, it doesn’t have to be spanking. And maybe I’m putting the cart before the horse, but we’ve spentdinners together once a week for nearly three months and I’m falling for you. I think you’re my boy.”

Auggie stared up at Thor, hardly able to believe what he was hearing. He’d spent the last three months convincing himself that Thor was just being nice. That there was no way Thor felt about him what he was feeling about Thor. And now it seemed that Thor was just handing him this beautiful life with someone hot and sexy who made him feel safe and cared for.

It was too good to be true. Right?

Thor shook his head. “Don’t do that.”

“What did I do?” he hadn’t said any of that out loud, had he?

“I could see it in your face the minute your inner saboteur started talking you out of reaching for what you want.”

Oh. He felt tears prickle at his eyes. Thor had seen it in his face. Just like that. The minute it had happened. Thor had seen it and was responding, wasn’t ignoring him.

Thor wrapped him in a tight hug. “It’s okay. I’ve got you. And I’m not going anywhere.”

“Even if I can’t be better?”

“You don’t need to be better. I’m just trying to help you believe in yourself. And yes, I still want to be with you and care for you and love you even if you never truly believe in yourself. I will believe for both of us.”

He did cry, then. Harsh, body-wracking tears. And he clung to Thor.

Thor didn’t kick him out or get angry or tell him to stop being a baby. Thor just held him safely in the strong arms.

Auggie stayed overnight. They didn’t make love, they just held each other and slept, tangled up in each other’s arms.

It was the best sleep Thor had had in a long time. He hadn’t meant to spring all his thoughts on Auggie like that, but now that he had, he knew it had been the right thing to do. His boy needed to know that his Daddy loved him. And yeah, he did love Auggie. It had crept up on him, moving from the tug of Auggie on his Daddy self, to enjoying getting to learn about Auggie, spending the time together they did, until having Auggie in his life had tangled into him. If Auggie turned around and decided he didn’t love Thor back, that he wanted to go it alone, it would break his heart. He knew it was a possibility, though; he’d thrown an awful lot at Auggie last night.

He slipped out of bed around eight and made breakfast; soft boiled eggs with toast cut up into long rectangles for dipping, bacon, fruit, and glasses of milk. He put it all on a tray and brought it upstairs to his bedroom.

Auggie’s eyes blinked open as he came in, and his boy stretched and lifted his head. “Oh wow. You made breakfast?”

“I did.”

“I’ve never had breakfast in bed.”

“Then it’s high time that you did.” Thor let Auggie sit up against the headboard, then he set the tray across his legs and climbed in. “I hope you like eggs and bacon.”

“Who doesn’t like bacon?” Auggie asked, reaching for one.

“Vegetarians?”

Auggie laughed, but he shook his head. “No, they like it too, they just don’t eat it.”

That made him smile. Auggie was quick, bright and funny, but he was pretty sure Auggie didn’t see himself that way. His boy had a habit of looking at the glass as half empty. Thor hoped to help him find that other half.

He grabbed one of the toast slices and dipped into the runny egg yolk, before holding it up to Auggie’s lips. Auggie didn’t even hesitate, just closed his lips around the toast and bit the yolky end off. Thor dipped and offered again.

“I shouldn’t let you feed me. I’m not a baby.”

“I am well aware that you are a grown man, Auggie. Very well aware. Feeding you makes me happy.” It was the honest truth. He wanted to care for Auggie because he loved Auggie.

“I like it when you feed me,” Auggie admitted, glancing up at him.
