Thor wound up buying an artificial tree, indoor and outdoor lights, ornaments, and a few other decorations for around the house. Auggie’s eyes got wider and wider the longer Thor’s list got.

“I want to do it up right for you,” Thor insisted.

“I’m starting to feel really spoiled,” Auggie admitted.

“Good.”

He threw his arms around Thor and kissed him. It was the best way he could express how this pampering and Thor’s attitude made him feel.

After they were done ordering decorations, Thor got a grocery list going. “We might as well do it all tonight. Then tomorrow, we can concentrate on decorating and each other.”

The store had a fully loaded Turkey dinner with all the fixings, including aps and desserts. “Oh, this is tempting. Do you mind if we don’t actually cook ourselves and just reheat a ready-made dinner?”

“I think it’s a stupid amount of food, but I am very good at re-heating.” He was used to it after all, between meals from Mrs. K. and take-out leftovers.

“We don’t need to eat it all on Christmas. In fact, I love a turkey sandwich or five after Christmas.” Thor ordered the big meal, and then things like bread and cereal, checking with Auggie for what he liked before adding anything to the list.

“How much do I owe you?” Auggie asked when Thor was done and had announced it should all be arriving by ten tonight.

“Nothing.”

He opened his mouth, and Thor put a finger across his lips to silence his protest.

“Consider it an early Christmas gift.”

“You know that line’s only going to work for a couple more days.”

Thor shrugged, looking unconcerned. “It’s a Daddy’s privilege to indulge his boy.”

Auggie sighed and leaned against Thor. He had to admit, once Thor had explained that Daddy did not equate father, this whole thing had a strong appeal. He just felt so safe and cared for with Thor. And that was entirely new.

“Okay, but you have to let me get supper.”

“I can live with that. What do you feel like?”

Auggie shook his head. “This is my treat to you so you get to choose.”

“Do you like sushi?” Thor asked.

Auggie made a face before he could even think about keeping himself expressionless and Thor laughed.

“How about Mexican?” he suggested instead.

“Sorry, just raw fish, you know?” He couldn’t even say it without making a face, even though he was trying. “And I love a good taco.”

“Excellent. Give me your phone and I’ll bring up my favorite place.”

Thor did and they ordered enough food to try everything and have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. It wasn’t cheap, but Auggie figured he didn’t have to buy food for the next week given everything Thor had ordered, so he didn’t have to worry about how much this was.

When he closed his phone, Thor took it from his hand. He blinked over and Thor smiled. “Let’s make out until our food gets here.”

Auggie thought that was a fantastic idea.

Chapter

Eight

They had spent the twenty-third making love, putting up the tree, making love, decorating, and making love some more. The outside lights had been almost more trouble than they were worth, until Auggie’s face had lit up when he’d seen them after dark. Thor would do pretty much anything to keep that expression on Auggie’s face.
