She sat down next to me, and I rested my head on her shoulder. She’s always had my back, and she didn’t agree with what they did either.
She rested her elbow on my legs, leaning on it slightly. It was a clear sign that if they wanted to fight me on this, they’d have to go through her first. Kyle recognized this and sighed.
“Alex,” he repeated softly. I lifted my eyes to meet his, and his gaze was soft and pleading. I hadn’t seen that look in a while.
“We were wrong. We’re sorry. We shouldn’t have done that to him. We’re... we’re sorry.” They all crouched down and nodded their heads.
I continued to pet Boomer, looking at them one by one. Each one had a small smile playing on their lips.
“I know you were all coming from a good place. But, next time, use your damn words and not your fists. And you need to apologize to him too!” They all smiled at me, and Sam rested her cheek on my head.
Kyle asked me to stand up and kissed the top of my head. “Let’s get a group hug!” he beamed, even picking Sam up too. They pulled me into the center, everyone around me in a group hug.
“Can’t. Breathe!” I gasped.
They all laughed at me and eventually backed away, loosening their grip on me first. Before they left, I poked Kyle, causing him to turn around, and the rest followed.
“If you do dumb shit like that again, I’ll get Andy to do more than ignore you, bro! And the same goes for the rest of you and your girls! We girls stick together! I know all your dirty little secrets! Nothing worse than hearing the wrath from a girl you like!”
Sam slung her arm over my shoulder and pulled me back into the kitchen. “Yeah, you little bitches! We know everything, and we can destroy you in a heartbeat,” she wickedly grinned, winking.
She flipped her hair behind her shoulder and pulled me out of the pantry, the boys trailing behind us.
We helped out with dinner and sat around eating, laughing, and gossiping. Wes came over with his family. His two handsome older brothers and younger sister, Maddie, who is stunning too.
She’s a dirty blonde and she’s going to be a beautiful girl when she’s older. Maddie always hangs out with me, Hannah, Lena, and Sam when she’s over.
We went down to the theater in the basement and watched ‘Bridesmaids’ together. After that, I headed to bed because I was so tired from the flight today. Everyone understood and bid me goodnight.
I forgave all the dipshits but only if they promised that it was wrong and to never do it to anyone again and to do a group apology to Drew.
They gave me their scouts’ honor, but none of them were actually in the Boy Scouts. So it was pretty meaningless.
They escorted me to my room to help bring my bag upstairs and placed it on the floor, and they all ran to get into my bed. Why they all escorted me, I don’t know, but that’s what happened.
Now is not the time, boys. I’m too tired and cranky for this crap.
“Out,” I demanded, but none of them moved. So I stood there, my weight on my right foot, arms crossed. Still no movement.
All eleven of them gave me a wicked grin, and Kyle ran over to pick me up and threw me on top of them.
“Kyle, you ass!” I couldn’t help but laugh as he deposited me in the center of my California king bed. It was an absurdly large bed, a gift from Eric during my senior year when sleep had been elusive.
They all piled on top of me, wrapping me in a group hug. “Seriously, guys! Go find someone else to smother!” I teased.
“But we love you, sis!” Cole chimed in, and the others echoed his sentiment.
“Okay, okay, but I need to sleep. Like, now!” They didn’t budge, and I groaned in exasperation.
“Alex, we’re all sleeping with you tonight, so get used to it,” Austin declared.
“Like hell you are! Get out of my room! I don’t want any of you copping a feel while I’m trying to sleep,” I teased. They all sat up, giving me their full attention. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Which one of us did you think was going to cop a feel, Alex?” Tyler asked, grinning. I knew he would, as would Brett, Wes, and possibly Knox. But I kept that to myself.
“I feel like I’m in a modern version of The Sound of Music. Like I’m about to burst into song and start sewing you all outfits from my curtains.” They all laughed, and Sam came bounding in.
“Are we having a slumber party?” she asked, eyes closed, clearly enjoying the moment.
