Mom gasped as Clay half-shifted before our eyes tearing the shirt he had just put on as his upper body shifted but he remained on two human legs.

I had never seen anything like it.

“Dammit,” Thomas cursed. “You have about thirty seconds to get the hell out of this house and then you had best keep going because if I ever find any of you in my territory again, I will kill you on the spot.”

Zeb stumbled backwards and ran out the door.

Mom and Dad hesitated.

I motioned them over, but they seemed to be frozen to the floor.

“Winnie?” Thomas asked.

“They’re my parents, Thomas,” I practically begged.

“Oh, I’m sorry ma’am, sir. We can make arrangements for you to visit your daughter. I have two daughters of my own and family’s important to me, but right now, it would be best if you leave with your Alpha.”

“Winnie,” Rendall begged. “Come on baby. It’s time to come home.”

“Idiot,” Thomas cursed.

Clay started to advance on him still in half-shifter form.

“If I pull my Alpha powers on him in this state, it’s only going to escalate. He will fight them. I can control him, but I’ve only ever faced one other wolf as strong as his without a drop of Alpha blood in his family line. Leave now.”

Dane looked furious, but when Thomas turned his Alpha powers on him and then roared, he stumbled back out of the house leaving Rendall behind to fend for himself.

I ran over to Mom and Dad and hugged them one last time.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

“Don’t be. He’s the kind of man that will always protect our baby,” Dad said.

“We’ll be in touch soon.”

“Love you.”

A tear ran down my cheek as I waved goodbye.

Thomas stood on the porch watching them leave.

“James, Austin.”

“You got it boss. We’ll personally escort them all the way to the border.”

Thomas nodded then finally turned to Clay.

“Settle down.”

Clay’s body shook all over.

“Now!” Thomas ordered.

I watched as Clay still stood his ground.

I walked over and wrapped my arms around my mate.

“I’m here. I’m safe. I know you’ll never let anything bad happen to me.”
